I don't even believe in god, quite frankly, but just like a placebo (medication that contains no active ingredients) will help some people for some problems if they believe in it, so might a prayer. This is especially true for psychosomatic "health" problems and will not cure deadly diseases, of course.

I believe in the power of God and that sometimes He heals in remarkable ways. I also believes He answers prayer but He answers according to His good purposes. We don't manipulate God but we ask.

Nope. In fact a study was done recently that proved prayer does not increase healing at all (in fact, people who were relying on prayer did WORSE).
Also, if prayer DID work, that would mean that God will let you suffer, or die unless someone asks him not to. What kind of sense does that make?

yes, I believe in the power of prayer...and it is very possible to heal through prayer.
(If you "pray in faith" believing --- Otherwise, your prayers are just lip service, and mean nothing.)
Unfortunately, there's alot of people 'practicing "lip service" --- that's why "studies" (as Doug mentioned) show so much opposition to this theory.
Ofcourse the power to heal doesn't come from prayer (words) it comes from God (answering our prayer, according to his will...) I figured I'd specify that.
God bless.

Not really. I do agree that if you believe in it, there may be a relaxing effect which can aid healing but I have heard that some people will pray instead of going to the doctor, which is silly really. Letting someone suffer in the hope that God will help. I won't criticise people for believeing in God but if people do believe in him, surely they must believe he gave them common sense.

Yes, I've been used by God twice, once last year and once this week. We are seeing a lot of healing miracles in church too but God seems to use me to heal those who don't believe it will work!

YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU PRAY, IT TENDS TO CALM YOUR WHOLE BODY. IT FOCUSES YOU. IT HELPS YOU CENTER YOUR THOUGHTS INSIDE YOURSELF. IT ALSO HELPS YOU COLLECT YOUR FACULTIES AND ENERGIES. WISER MEN THAN MYSELF WILL GIVE YOU WISER ANSWERS. BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT PRAYER HELPS YOU AIM YOUR WILL AND IF YOU CAN DO THAT WITHIN YOURSELF, YOU CAN ALSO DIRECT YOUR WILL TO BECOME WELL AGAIN. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEND HEALING ENERGY OUT TO OTHERS ON A RIBBON OF WILLPOWER.
IT TENDS TO ORIGINATE AND COME FROM YOUR STOMACH, THE EXACT SAME PLACE YOU GET "GUT FEELINGS." WITH A LITTLE PRACTICE, YOU CAN AIM YOUR HEALING INTENTIONS FOR SOMEONE ELSE AND THEY WILL FEEL IT. THEY MAY NOT KNOW IT'S YOU, BUT THEY WILL RESPOND TO IT. PRAYER FOCUSES NEARBY ENERGIES AND MAKES EVERYTHING CALMER. IT IS IN THIS CALMNESS THAT HEALING CAN AND OFTEN DOES OCCUR. THIS IS JUST MY UNDERSTANDING. IF IT HELPS YOU JUST A LITTLE BIT, THEN I BELIEVE THIS IS A GOOD THING TO HAVE TOLD YOU. GORDY IN SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE.
