Why not teach them both? God has too many wonderful forms and faces to be narrowed down to one style or another.

I married a Hindu man. We got married in the Mardir with a pundit and it was the most beautiful experience of my like. My parents went and met with punditji and asked him about the rehearsal so they go start to plan it and his reply to them was 'why would you want to rehearse the wedding, when you can not rehearse life. You just need to follow my lead and everything will fall into place.' My parents loved his advice and were even more pleased with my choice in a husband. We now have three children and to some degree we follow the Hindu religion. I take my oldest daughter to the Mandir for belvadas (heritage) classes. My other two come once in awhile and they both love the music and the arti. To me there is so much more in that religion to understand, to love and appericate that we have chosen Hinduism. I think that because I do not know and I am curious. However, I do read a book that was given to me by my grandmother with Bible stories in it to my children for bedtime so that they have some exposer to the Christian religion as well. Christmas is celebrated in my house and so is Easter and the stories that go along with both. My husband does not stop me and supports me in this because I support him with raising and participating in the Hindu side of our family. That is the most important. In the end when they get older it will be their decision to make. I have a friend who was raised a Catholic and she once told me that if she had had a choice she would not have been one. I was very shocked. My father never Christened myself or my sister. He always said that the regilion that we marry into would be the regilion we should choose. If he had had a boy he would have. Expose the children to both. I thought about taking the children to Sunday school every other Sunday from the Mandir, but I decided that would be to confusing. I have the support from friends at the Mandir and the support of my family. You will need to make one stand out more I think. So far it has worked for us and I hope that whatever you decide you can make it work. Best of Luck!

This is something the two shold have discussed before they got married. tradition I believe is to folow the wifes religion. Did they get married in a church or temple or justice of the peace? Though the first few years will not matter around the age they start school they need to follow one way or the other to minimize confusion for them. Though I am not an expert on either of those religions I do not believe elders in each one allow for dual religion. As the children get older say in high school. They can start to explore both and make up their own minds later on.

True Catholics (Catholics that go to the Latin mass) can't marry anyone but Catholics. The new Catholics that say the mass in english can marry someone from another religion as long as the person from the other religion agrees to raise the kids Catholic.

I am catholic and I am married to an hindu man. We still don't have children but when we do, we agreed we would each them them our own religion (I will teach them catholicism and he will teach them hinduism), so then knowing about both, they will have the chance to chose which religion they freely wish to follow. Religion is not something you can force someone to follow, it's somethng your heart should follow and agree with.

The children should learn both. They need to know their religions. Involve them in as much as possible.
