The problem with this country is they don't have the first damn clue what war is. Americans wouldn't stand for troops crossing their boarders or tanks driving down their highways. War's ugly. Marines do ugly business. And as long as Americans think that every person with a tan and an accent is a terrorist, they'll keep doing it. We as a country are more to blame for this than the soldiers who fired the bullets.

I served with the Marines in Iraq (2005) as a medic, 2nd Bn, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division California. My unit lost 7 lives by the hands of insurgents while supporting and defending the American Constitution (your rights and freedom) and defending the rights of innocent Iraqi civilians. I will neither condem nor will I condone those Marines and what transpired in Haditha. Whether or not these Marines were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or not, is entirely up to the experts. I will say this for certain. I've been shot at, almost blown up by Improvised Explosive Devices, I've placed what was left of my fellow Marines in body bags. I'm blessed that God has given me a strong mind to deal with the things that I've experienced. Your last comment is somewhat sarcastic, "Thanks a lot Marines!" While you're sitting on your couch safe and secure, you might want to think about my fellow Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, and Coast Guard folks (sailors as well) who put themselves in harms way so that people like yourself can enjoy your life of ease! P.S. I hope you get drafted!

The Muslims teach their children from a very early age to hate and kill and our Marines should trust them? Yes there are innocent but we had many Innocent die on 9/11. That's what started this whole thing they came over here and attacked us. This is what war is it's not nice and pretty. Look at all the other wars in history all over the world. We wouldn't even have this freedom to post without our military!

I'm an American. Whatever the facts are, I am deeply sorry that this incident occurred.
President Bush will have nothing to do with any trial of Marines. In the United States, there is little corruption. For the President to interfere in a trial would be wrong and illegal.
If U.S. soldiers are found to have committed a crime (which seems likely), I believe they should be punished. I believe their punishment should take into consideration the stress that they were under. Because of that, I do not believe they should be sentenced to death. I believe they should be sentenced to life, with parole possible after, say, 10 years.

First of all we don't know what happened there yet. They have not Even been charged yet.
Second, Unless you have been in combat, and walked in their shoes, you should not judge them.
Marines are doing a great job representing our country in Iraq. They did not ask to be sent there, but they went anyways.
If you don't like what is happening in our country you should get off your lazy butt and do something about it. I hardly think putting a post on this answer board will influence foreign policy.
I am a Marine, was in the first Gulf war. I am glad that you have a right to express your opinion like I expressed mine.

I don't know the case details, but I wouldn't hold them accountable. All is fair in love and war. I'm sure they didn't mean to kill the innocent children. Even the basest criminal will save a child teetering at the edge of a well. Perhaps they should just be allowed to return home, and not serve in the military anymore.

K-9, you're about the lowest form of bile, that I have ever read. I wish the hell you would eat sh*it and start gagging for about a month. I don't want to see you die just yet, I think you need to suffer a bit before that happens.
You low life ****, you know damn good and well those Marines have not been charged with anything at this point. Yet, you will try and get as much mileage with your mucus smelling yellow tooth pie hole, as you possibly can. For that I curse you. And for my beloved Marine Corps, I hope that I get a chance to meet up with you, before Satan gets his hands on you.

Yes, thank you terrorists who have failed to fight like real men. Look what you've done, caused the deaths of innocent people and laugh because it's blamed on someone else. Yes, thank you terrorists, you have much support in the US, keep it up and we'll send you all our liberals for you to use as practice for your suicide missions.
To answer your question, it's a war and no man or woman who volunteered should have to face prison or death for being a part of a war. Mistakes are made. Period.

umm... dont blame all the Marines for what a few of the supposedly did. A lot of the time the media changes things to make the U.S look like the bad guys you never know what happened. i saw that these little kids came out with grenades and threw them at the U.S troops and they really didn't have a choice but to shoot at them. but the media made it look like the troops just killed them for no reason. that may have been what happened here.
and screw the rest of the world and what they think of what we are doing they werent attacked on 9/11 and dont understand what its like.
and they shouldnt be put to death
they volunteered to protect this country and we dont know what happened and they shouldnt die for that.

It's interesting that those most adamantly in favor of the death penalty in general will probably squeal to high heaven if the Marines don't get off scot-free. I hope anyone who fired a shot or ordered one fired gets at least 10 years, some of them life.

Lets hear and see the evidence and then have a trial and decide guilt before we condemn.
All the evidence I have seen on the news (the BBC which is notoriously anti war / bush / blair) shows a room full of dead bodies in a war zone. That doesn't prove a thing about who did it or why.
