She whines all the time about how miserable her life is (it's not), and how her grades are falling (she's not studying at all!), and how our mother treat her bad (true, our mom might have some personal issues but I had to deal with that too). I used to take care of her when she was young (we're 11 yrs apart) but I'm getting tired of her drama. I want to be a good sister but I feel that if I'm being sympathetic it will lead to more whining. I want to tell her to get real because it's not that bad, and most of the time when things go wrong it's her fault, but then she gets mad at me for not being supportive, and eventually we get into a screaming match. We used to be close but if things keep up this way we won't talk anymore. I'm not being judgemental but she keeps being lazy and ruins her future and then comes to me to complain about it? I know she's a teen and I might be a little too impatience with her but where do my responsiblities lie? What should I do about her, if anything?

Your sister is seeking attention.
If you can, give her some. Sit down and talk with her
Make a rule first, no voice raising.
She may need more than you can give.
Maybe she needs counseling, but most kids really just need lots of love and knowing that at least some person cares about them.
Good luck.

tell her that at least she finds someone to complain to while u didn't and how u got going with life and u are what u are now (which means that everything is ok and will be fine).

afterall she's acting like a typical teenager who wants to find something tragic in his/her life to blame everything on.

good luck with her :]

Shes trying to tell you in code that something is wrong with her. She wants to talk to you. Go up to her and tell her, "I'm your sister. You can trust me! If you ever want to tell me something, i'll try my best to help you." She might also be getting her period and act all emotional. Hope this helps!

Buy her stuff. Care for her. Try to remember what it was like to be her age. I mean, she is probubly hormone crazy, so she can't control her feelings as well. Trust me. Go easy on her.
