My Windows XP isn't legit and I need some help.?

I had Windows XP Pro SP2 but it was in Italian and there is no way I could change it. I copied from a friend his Windows XP Pro SP2 English disc and installed it but I tried to use MY serial key but it didn't work because I've used it too many times. I didn't know that you could renew it for free so I sold my labtop to my friend (had the serial key on it) and used a crack to activate my Windows XP. I turned on Automatic Updates and it says it updates but when I go to Windows Update it says my Windows XP isn't genuine but Auto. Updates is apparently working? Is it working or going to make my comp not work anymore? I'm scared to restart.

Your cd key will not work with any other cd. You have to buy and install a new cd of Windows XP. Walmart has the cd for around 100 bucks.
