I have just helped plan a few weddings and most of them just had a maid of honor or a maid of honor plus two bridesmaids. It most had to do with cost for the wedding. Even when you have the bridesmaids paying for their own dress you just have lots of little cost to add in to having more. Also its just easier having fewer people to get together to find dresses everyone looks good in. Best Wishes.

I had 1 maid of honor and 2 bridesmaids. But it would be totally up to you how many you want. I also had 2 flower girls because they were sisters and I couldn't pick just one of them.

I am the Maid of Honor in my friend's wedding. She has two Maid of Honors and 6 bridesmaids and I thik 4 little kids inher wedding party.
My thoughts...this is way too many girls..
Everything becomes so messed up. It's so frustrating as one of the maid of honors. It's sucks being in her wedding. Because there are so many girls, everytime I try to plan anything there are so many hands in the pot that things just get messed up.
If it was my wedding I would have the same numbers of girls as my groom would have on his side. (my bf has 3 brother)

I had 5 bridesmaids and a maid of honor.
A bit of advice, keep it simple. Remember, the more people you have, the further away your group photos will be. You want to be able to actually see their faces.

Maid of Honor and two bridesmaids. Three on each side fit nicely in the church and was not a coordinating hazard with trying to get them together for dress shopping, etc.
