If you were to take a poll of those educated people on here, I would suspect that 90% or more would agree with you.
Some of those youngsters , think typing in 'chat' speak is cool, or use those short cuts, like u r, for you are, etc.
Then there is all that test messaging on cell phones, that doesn't help either.
But mainly. just as guess, I would say the school system is failing the kids today.
Judging by the questions, there are a lot more subjects that they so little off.
All one can do, is sigh, shake ones head, and just move on. to hopefully a better written and understandable question.

I don't think they teach anything in the schools anymore...
It is weird that the internet has become more & more important in everyone's daily life, and it utilizes THE WRITTEN WORD lots of the time. And yet, despite this, most people seem to be slowly growing more and more illiterate every day. Go figure.
No one seems to know the difference between "Your" & "you're" or "they're" & "Their" despite how simple it is.
I blame rap music & reality TV.

Agreed... From the looks of it (and not just on this site...), they stopped teaching it a looooooooong time ago.

They still teach them, but people don't know how to apply their skills in real life.
