I have been dancing for eleven years and i just feel like i am a horrible dancer. I'm not super skinny, i don't have over extended knees, my feet are less than ideal for ballet, and sometimes i wonder if i will ever improve. I'm still young (13) but maybe i'm just not cut out to be a dancer. any thoughts?

At thirteen you have plenty of time to decide. I know that my feet improved after thirteen. (Watch Margot Fonteyn sometime, she had bad feet) The most important thing is to get good ballet training! You may or may not get into a professional ballet company, but that's okay, because there are very few strictly ballet companies around. Most are a mix of ballet and modern. Your video looks just fine. You don't need to be insecure, but be determined instead. When I finally got rid of most of my doubts and told myself I could do this thing-that's when I started to improve a lot.

im a 13 year old ballerina too. truthfully when i got started I didnt have much support from anyone. I wasnt skinny like you. I have wide feet. No I didnt feel like a ballerina, but thats what i wanna be. I went to this one school first. My teacher gave me a lot of support. But this school was a just for fun school. Now I go to a much more prestigious school. I feel like I learn a lot and they is a possibility I may be a dancer. Just keep on trying. My advice is go to a good school. But dont give up. 11 years is a long time! Even if u dont become a ballerina you will have learned a lot of lesson and got fit. Well if u do become a ballerina, my names Cassie. Try to remember that. Who knows we might be training together. Good Luck!!!!!!

Sometimes doing something for a long time can start to seem redundant. If you love dancing, then you should keep at it and find the type of dance you would like to pursue. But maybe you should also have another hobby onthe side. Keep your options open. Maybe you will find that doing something else is what you really like to do. But don't give on dancing. Maybe ballet is not the type for you, but there are a lot of other dancing stylyes you can try. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Your not bad , quite good actually.
We all have different body types and some of us will never be super skinny or have our ideal looks we want to have.
Your not finished growing yet though so relax, never stop dancing.
Here is a link to someone with a less than perfect body type who is actually amazing segwaying into about 20 dances http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg
Somtimes you don't have to be "ideal"

As long as you enjoy dancing, keep at it. If you should mature into a woman not physically able to do ballet, there are many other forms of dance you can explore. Yoga, is a good regimen to pursue which can help you in all aspects of life.

Dancing is about passion. If you have passion, everything else will follow. However there are a few lost causes, but I'm sure you're not one of them. To sum up my entire thoughts on the subject, watch Center Stage. It is one of the best dance movies I have ever seen.

Ask yourself this "Do I love dancing?" If you answer yes then don't worry about everything else. Trust me I'm 13 too and their have been some times when I didn't think I could do it, but I know I love dance so everything else doesn't really matter.

Good Luck.

Im your age, and have been dancing for the same amount of time (coinsidence, eh?), so i really know how you feel. Sometimes you really have to think about how much you really want it, and how much your dedicated. But for me, its always been that i've let a teachers comments get to me. One of my teachers has really strong favoratisim, so it gets me very frustrated, as i think im not as good as i really am sometimes.

Hope i could help!

There is nothing as such as to be cut out for dancing or anything else...Just continue what you love doing and its sure that you will improve in it after the initial hurdles...

I went through the same thing when I was your age. Dancing was not for me either. But if u love doing it, then you should still do it no matter what.
