Hey... I think its more to do with education....
the level of education is very poor.... and whatever education they get is through religious leaders (most of which is useless)...
I would request you not to club all the muslims in this category.. there are millions of muslims in india... and most of them well understand meaning of democracy.

jgcii: Your answer is horrible, it's racist and super closed-minded. It implies that nothing can enter your head except for what the television news feeds it. Try talking to some Muslims, you'll be surprised at how kind and gentle Islam is. Do that before spewing "diarrhoea of the mouth" here or in any other forum.
Peace of Mind: I've seen your complaints in other threads of this forum. Why do you continuously bash the Muslims? What did they ever personally do to you? Why bash ??? You are making a blanket statement about ALL Muslims, which isn't fair. Are you American and Christian, and if so, is it fair to make blanket statements about Americans and/or Christians? Is it fair to use the KKK as a good example of Christianity?
As for being unable to comprehend freedom, how on EARTH can you POSSIBLY speak for all Muslims in Muslim countries??? Remember, there are also Jews, Christians, and Baha'is in these countries. Do they not understand freedom either, or has God awarded this inability to understand strictly to Muslims? Furthermore, there are many people who have worked in Western countries for a time and then went back to their home land. Not only do they understand democracy, they LIVED in a democratic society! Also, many people DO READ, mind you, and are perfectly aware of democracy and how it works.
It's so arrogant to speak for an entire group of people so many in number.

Muslims are abIe to understand democracy but they might not feel the need for it as we do now because they are not a laic community like we are. I am from Québec Canada and not so long ago we lived in a religion controlled society. We had the right to vote and we had the right to speak or so we thought. But if you were a french Canadian you didn't have the freedom to choose how many children was enough children. We thought that we had brought our government to power but what we didn't know is that the politicians and the religious figures of the time worked together to keep the people poor and split the land and the riches between them... and we lived in a democratic society ! How ironic don't you think ?

Muslim countries are still colonized but indirectly. America supports dictators in Pakistan, Egypt, etc... because through them can indirectly rule their countries, but when real democracy in Palestine doesn't go with America plans let democracy go to hell, all the Palestinian people should be punished by preventing money, milk and food because they freely elected whom they think is good for them but America didn’t like. This is not democracy, America is practicing hypocrisy. There is no real democracy in the world. Islam is far more advanced than this diseased democracy, you do search the net for the political system in Islam which is based on true and solid bases and compare for your self.

Yes they can and do. As good as elsewhere. In some democratic countries, presidents come from the same families, like a monarchy, and to you, this seems normal. Why question other ountries, simply because they have a different religion than you, that is, if you have any because if you did,you would not be asking such questions where you put all Muslims in one category.

Well, the Palestinians had a chance of this so-called "democracy" and the Western countries are punishing them now for chosing the party they don't like. So, what kind of democracy is that?? Two faced isn't it?

In principle, Islam is against Democracy. Islams lawas (sharia) is from god, while democracy laws are from people. Muslims believe that god's laws are better than people's laws.
The funny thing is that sometimes muslim fundamentals use democracy to reach power and then they simply denounce it and call for Sharia.

Islam has no political aims. People just use religion as an excuse for their right-wing views. It has nothing to do with religion. And this phenomenon is not restricted to Islam or the middle east.

Muslims are tought to not question orders. They arent capable of living in a free society.
They need, at least, the current generation need, someone to tell them what to do, and slowly introduce freedom.

OMG, uh, spamandham or whatever your name is- iran is not a republic, it is a theocracy. They dont deny that...their "presidents" are voted in, only after the Ayatollah hand picks the candidates. They ( iranians ) dont even deny that. WAKE UP !

you said , muslims , then turned into islamic countries .... there is some difference .
in islam , nothing prevent from democracy , in fact it is the right islamic way according to islamic rules
but islamic countries is something different , it's thierd world , they are suffering dectatorship , and dectators there are far from any religion , just dectators , and by the way America support them , and their muslim people are suffering from dectatorship of course
what is your point in trying to attack islam as much as you can in all questions you are hummering people here with it ? did you believe what said in that web site you show ? i went there , it's full of lies , for example it get a story about prophet Muhammad sleeping with the maid of his wife , i returned back to sources , most of the story is right which he tries to show that everything he say is documented and at scintefic base , but one small lie changed the whole truth into a big false story, she wasnt his wife's maid , she was his slave woman , which by law he has the right to sleep with , and that was normal and not cheating on his wife , or a raping , she was like a wife to him , and that was well known ( she was the mother of his only son , and that was ok ) that was the law and custom of that time , slave woman to her master was like a wife to him , and by islamic law if she born baby that event free her . but what i want to say is : see how much weicked lieing in that site behind their efforts to show themselves or himself a genius and very accurate and thinker while in fact they are playing with words , get things out of their cercumstances , and even can lie like that story whom they showed His woman as a maid of His wife , and Showed a legitimate relationship as a cheating on wife and lustfullness of him ,which was of course not true .
Dont let those people fool you and turn you to be benladen of the west , i bet the owner of that site (and maybe you by the way) is a middle east christian who is trying ( along with people like him) to export the extreming and intolerance and prejeduce of the middle east to you here in america ,
Americans, dont let them fool you
