Depends on what door and (more importantly) what when you are referring to.
Upon leaving a public toilet, courtesy dictates leaving both the stall and room door either open or unlatched as a sign that the restroom, or that particular stall, is unoccupied.
However, leaving the door open during the use of the restroom is considered bad form, as it can lead to unintentional junk sightings.

men seem to have their lazy tendancies and that is one of them, they just dont care! and the one i hate the most is leaving up the toilet seat! i mean come on its not hard to put it down! now i know i am not the only one that has had to go the bathroom in the middle of the night and has fallen in the toilet cause your boy friend or husband has forgotten to put the seat down and now you have a cold wet bottom stuck in the toilet and your half a sleep, and you tell them not to do it and you tell them what happened and they laugh at you...what is so funny about that, i wish men could experience what it is like to fall in the toilet in the middle of the night when you are half a sleep see if they laught then!

Are you talking about the bathroom door at home ? Maybe because since you are family they dont mind that the door is open .
Do they do it when theres company over ? That would be a problem .

If a man is stupid enough to sit on a public toilet he is also to stupid to close the door. If theyre leaving it open to urinate, what is the big deal?

In a lot of places I've been, it's common courtesy to leave the door open so you know whether some one is in there or not.

I often wondered that before and It happens everywhere. If your walking by on your way to the ladies room its half opened. It's like it doesn't bother them.

At least you have doors, around here public restrooms usually have no stall doors.
