Mine did too until I got a dog, now the dog eats the poop before the cat can play in it. YUCK.

Because she is bored and hasn't been taught not to. Discourage this by calling her when you know she is finished. Then get her playing with a toy away from her box. Do this consistantly and she will get the idea that it is more fun to play with her toys than the litter box. But do not tell her no, she will come to associate her litterbox with getting in trouble and quit using it.

it's retarted, get a new one! as for the old one, I would just shoot it and hang it over the litter box as an example to the new cat!

Maybe it's because she dosen't have toys or something cause my cats, no they don't do it
