Ok,
Your child is acting out. He does not want to take a nap and he does not like you making him poop in a lousey toilet. He is feeling an intitlement to his poop which comes from his own body and he does not want it going down some silly toilet. He knows that you think poop is smelly and discusting and that if he spreads it on the walls, you might think twice about ever trying to potty train him or put him down for a nap AGAIN!
He also , not unlike the rest of us, does not like to sleep with a diaper full of poop!
Make sure your son has his daily poop BEFORE you lay him down for a nap. This should solve your problem.

LOL...sorry i know it's not very funny, but i have a few friends with kids and there little ones smaired poop on the walls! My daughter is 2 and a half and hasn't wiped her poop on her walls yet, but sometimes she will come up to me with some poo on her hands and ask me "whats this?.....poop!" I just clean her hands off and change her pull-up and tell her that was naughty and gross and that she should do that! she hasn't done it for about a month now! i think it's just a phase some toddlers go through!

Ugh my middle kid would do that when he was little. So nasty. I'd make him clean it up.
When he has a day that he doesn't do it, give him some poster paints and paper and both of you play together with it. Painting on walls is fun, it's the medium that you have to watch.
Another thing you can try if it's possible, they have paint that makes walls like a chalk board. Paint the lower half of one of his walls and when he takes his nap and doesn't smear poop on the walls, then he gets his colored chalk to write on the walls with. He's old enough to understand that he can write on some things and not on others.

I even have 4 boys with the final one being potty experienced at 3 yrs previous. My Pediatrician consistently advised me to introduce them at 2 a million/2, you would be able to desire to take them each hour in a nil.5. If after 3 days they're nevertheless having many ooppsies, she says to end and attempt lower back in a million month. they do no longer seem to be waiting and a few cases it takes a on a similar time as for them to get the assumption of it. Boys consistently take longer than females. I consistently began potty training contained in the summertime in view which you may enable them to run around the living house without underclothes and that they study that there is not any longer something there to capture the pee or poo and visit bathroom less demanding. solid success and do lots of praising while he is going on bathroom. I consistently sang to my sons while they went on bathroom, made up songs of huge boy is going potty. would desire to be ingenious, teenagers love making a song and your praising on a similar time.

Welcome to my world. Two of my four children were "poop painters" and only did it during nap time. While he is potty training and wants to where the pull-ups I'll tell you what worked for us. Diapers at naptime and bedtime taped with duct tape. It sounds ridiculously over the edge but it puts a stop to it instantly.

to be honest with you it is natural. your 3 year old is curious. explain to him/her that the poop can only go in the potty because if it is on the wall then it will make everybody sick and the animals(if you have any) too and if it happens again make him clean it with a toothbrush!!

I've heard of kids doing this, never mine though, thank goodness. I would spank his bottom and make him help you clean the wall. He needs to learn fast that it's not ok and should not do it again. My 3 year old used to spit out her water all over the house and I would make her help me clean up the puddles, it seemed to help her understand I was serious and that she would have a consequence if it continued.
