Generally, nutritional labels go off of the 2,000 or 2,500 calorie diet. So, if you need more or less calories, you need to adjust.
It really depends on the person's metabolism and activity level.
Even body type cannot determine how many calories a person needs each day. For example, a big guy may have a slow metabolism, and conversely, a small guy could have a high metabolism. A person with higher metabolism needs more calories a day and vice-versa.
Also, the more active you are, the more calories you need. Because, you will be burning up calories through your cardio exercises. In addition, you probably have more lean muscle mass which burns calories as well.
I personally aim for 2500-2700. I have a fairly high metabolism and I am pretty active.

it all depends on your lifestyle generally the more active you are the more calories you need think of a calorie as a little bit of energy if you run 3 miles and only eat a celery stick or two you wont have any energy to run and so your body will start to look for energy in other places like fatty tissue and even muscle now on the other end if you sit on the couch all day and don't move and then eat 3 big macs you have not burned any calories so you have excess or stored energy which can turn into fat in short a generally active person needs about 2000 calories a day give or take it all depends on you

Depends on your weight, age and sex. My fiance needs like 2500-3000 (Big guy) but I would need approx 2000. Average is 2000-2500 per day.
