The ceremony for the boy is called a "Bris". It is then that he is circumcised and given his name. Of course, girls dont have a circumcision but there is a name giving ceremony and after they give the name there is usually a "Kidish" - they give out cake...
For the person who wrote its a bas mitzva - you are totally mixed up! A bar mitzva (boy) is when he is 13, and a bas mitzva (girl) is 12. Their birthday marks the age for when they are responsible for all the laws in the Torah.

for a boy it is called a breet milah. this ceremony happens when the baby is 8 days old or when a man convets to Judaism. also it is a common misconception that the baby is hurt by this. it has been found out that the baby is crying from being cold or exposed.
for a girl it is mainly just a baby naming (i forget what it is in hebrew).
