well this is a good one, i like the turn A on for 10 min then off then turn on B and check, its very likely the best idea. BUT if not, heres my try. i know the bulb is controlled by the switch, but i think you go into that room, grab the light bulb bring it back into the room with the switches, screw it in and test the switches seperately there. at that point you can try all 3 individually.

Who needs a hint? if you do it right, you dont even have to go into the light bulb room at all. heck, i could do it without even turning any light switches on.
First, take off the switch plate and see if all three light switches are hooked up. if they are, demo out the wall toward the room with the light bulb in it, you should be able to follow one of the switch wires into the light bulb room, henceforth not needing to turn any of the switches on at all.

Turn switch a 'on' for a while .. about 5 mins or more .. then turn it 'off'.
Then turn switch b 'on' and go inspect upstairs.
The hot bulb is controlled by switch a
The lit bulb is controlled by switch b
The unlit and cold bulb is controlled by switch c.
