It is a matter of opinion, and budget. If you are looking for cheap and low power but serious bass Kicker comp 12's, if you want load as all get out and don't care about money you need Kicker solo x subs. I have two 18's in a 20 cubic foot box with a 300 sq. inch port, 10000 watts and five batteries, you don't want that it could kill you. JL W7 are good but they are not really beat ars subs, they do get loud but they are meant for clean sound. Your box is one of the most important parts. It needs to be designed for your specific subs not just some generic box or spec. Yes they will work but you can get much more out of the proper box.

Your system won't mean squat without a well designed box. I just so happened to have THE box for bass hounds.

I have full plans for a dual 12" 4th-order band pass bass box if you want. It has easy to follow instructions to build your own from scratch. Plus, you can say you built it yourself. It really bumps.

I chose Blaupunkt TSw1200 subs with a Sony Xplōd XM2200GTX and it moves my coffee table around when I'm in the driveway.

Amp is 1200 watts (600watts X 2), subs are 600watts each.

All of this for about $390 - $450 if you look around.

I also have a 1.2 Farad cap as well.

Recommend for every 500 watts you use a .5 Farad cap
Example: 1000 watts - 1 Farad cap

Try http://www.soundomain.com/shop you can find some really good deals, and this site is manufacturer certified. VERY IMPORTANT WHEN SHOPPING ON-LINE!!!

If you want amazing street bass, the kind people hear from blocks away, go with Kicker L7 solobarics. One fifteen in the correct ported box with plenty of power will do amazing things! The great thing is that they are built to hit like two woofers using only one. I would recommend one 15" instead of two 12" and a good solid amp capable of around 1000 watts peak and 400-500 RMS. If you want to build your own box, the Kicker L7 manual has box building instructions in the back of the book for different types of bass(clean bass, street bass...etc). Good luck!

The best subwoofer really differs for each person. Do you want high power? Do you want accurate response? All of the above?? With so many options, I suggest you do some research. I have always liked the subwoofers listed below for their versatility and power handling:

1) Boston Acoustics
2) Kicker (Solobaric)
3) JL Audio
4) Eclipse

Personally I run 2 Eclipse SW-9152's, they are 15", have a titanium cone, big foam surround, they have almost 4 inches of displacement, and they move everything very violently. I run a Rockford fosgate t-20001bd amp at 1235 watts, it is a 1/2 mile from the road i turn off to go to my house and my girlfriend can hear me when i turn on it, these are very good subs and have alot of nice features, like replaciblr cones so you don't have to buy the entile speaker, just put the old magnets on the new cones. I highly recommend them.

JL Audio W7's, Adire Audio Bramahs, Or Image Dynamics IDMax are all about equal and are about as good as it gets in car audio.

Haha. I see some piss poor recommendations down there. I would research the company's subs I recommended. If you go to some car audio forums, you will see I am right. Those 3 are the best hands down. Although MTX is quite the up and comer ranking right in behind them along with eclipse, but you asked for the best, and I listed the 3 best.

It's really personal opinion but in my book
1. Kicker L7's
2. JL audio
3. JBL
4. Infinity Perfect
5. Alumapro

if you're on a budget then I would definetly recommend JBL , high wattage and a very reliable sub.
