I have had hypnosis on more than one occasion, and I can tell you that it worked for me. You have to want it to work though. For example, if you go for hypnosis to help you give up smoking, you actually have to want to give up, or your subconscious will reject the hypnotic suggestions.
I personally would choose hypnosis over counselling as it can produce immediate results.
I went to this guy and I thought he was great: www.hypnosis-london.co.uk
I'm sure there are lots of other good hypnotists out there too. Do a Google/Yahoo search.

Look into my eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, in the eyes ... 3-2-1 You're under .....
I have no idea but I'm sure it does as a friend of mine had hypnosis to help her quit smoking and it worked but there must be some truth in it. Though I am sceptical about programmes where they 'entertain' the audience by hypnotising volunteers and getting them to do stupid things, I can't help but think it's staged.
Your Doctor should know about reputable hypnotists.
Good luck, hope it works it for you.

Hypnosis sometimes does work. It depends on whether or not you let the person giving you hypnosis control you. Yes I do know someone who has had hypnosis. It did work. I do not know where they got it though.

My mum had hypnosis to give up smoking,it took some will power but to begin with but she hasn't smoked since. A good hypno therapist will be registered or you can go to ur dr 4 a list of reputable therapists in your area. Sorry I dont know where they were based but it has been about 10 years now.

have been debating this in class. Am training as a counsellor and there is a girl in my class who is also training in hypnosis too; she swears by it, and says that it it only works if you want it to work. I am scared by it, but will be a guinee-pig for her soon, as I can't really criticise without experience; will let you know how it went...

I remember from my a-level psychology studies that hypnosis works best on those people who are susceptible to social suggestion (e.g. like you want to fit in and please others) - when I was studying it (about 5yrs ago) there was quite a debate on whether hypnosis caused a change in consciousness (like when taking a psychoactive drug) or it was purely wanting to please the hypnotist.

Yes it does. 100% genuine.
Contact The Institute of Psychology and Parapsychology.
It used to be in Southampton.
It helped me! 28/30 years ago and I'm still ok.
