No, this is a comon belief, but in reality the hair grows in the same. After exposure to sunlight and normal wear and tear from friction it lightens, thins etc. So it appears that the new growth is darker

No, not at all.
But it seems thicker and darker because the hair that has been there for some time got worn-out and thinner at the end.

Absolutely not.... At least mine does not.. it grows back the VERY same color and it should.. shaving does not change the pigment of one's hair follicles.
