We did do things like this until the democrats took over. Once Clinton was in office, he put an end to these programs. The reason is simple, he is a communist sympathizer and the communists in south american get most of their money from the drug trade. Since that time, they have taken over much of south america. If Bush wasn't such a weak president with no support for conservative issues, he would have re-instituted those programs. He didn't. The result is the communist alliance of Venezuela, Cuba and Bolivia. They are allying themselves with Iran in a clearly hostile manner and are positioning themselves to take over Mexican politics. All funded with drug money.

Well, coca has a variety of legal uses from flavouring to cosmetics to anaesthetics. It has uses traditional in South American society. Its non-narcotic uses are allowed - and encouraged - by the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961, of which the USA is a signatory. Additionally, such an action would be a gross miscarriage of international law.

First of all, it isnt the USA's country. That would be up to Colombia. Secondly, unless you can think of a way that every single square inch of the country could be covered with enough of that disease at the same time, the growers would figure out a way to hide their plants until the poisening process is over.

HYPOTHETICAL: What if the Columbians flew a plane over the midwest and spread a disease that only affected wheat, trying to eliminate American breadstuffs contributing to their obesity problem?
You'd be pretty pissed off, wouldn't you?
The drug trade is only profitable because it has customers. reduce customers, you reduce demand. That's how you solve the 'drug problem'.
