How about proving to him you are responsible and mature? Start with a decent job than tell him you are saving to help him purchase a car for you. This will prove to him you care about the car and will be mature and responsible since it is part yours. He may even say save your money we'll use mine. Also if you're of age getting to the DMV for a permit or license may also show responsibility.

I gt my car in my 17th birthday and I didnt even know it was mine until he gave me the keys. I always thought he bought the car, and it has been parked in the garage for almost a week before my bday, because he's fixing it up. Anyway, the need fo rme to drive in the family and my grades did all the talking. I had to drive because there's no one to drive me and my sisters everytime we go to school. Now, my sister drives my old car and I have my bro's old car. Hand me downs? Hehe, I'll buy myself my real first car later.
