Okay, Ive thrown out a few views on here, and keep finding people questioning my beliefs. So from Christians, and non-christians if you like, I want to know how un-christian like my views are. I consider myself to be ever learning, and maybe I am wrong. Please note, I am NOT looking for guidance, or whether or not I am a christian, I KNOW i am saved by grace, no questions there, so I dont need that.
Homosexuals. I believe it is a sin, and an abominations. I dont think it is right. But, common sense tells me it will be practiced, and Jesus says love the sinner, hate the sin. SO, is the fact I accept homosexuals, believe they should have equal rights, and even befriend them, un-christian like behavior? Does that call my faith into question, as I am tolerant. Christ taught love of the sinner himself, right?

Spiritual atheist speaking. Believe what your heart feels is right. Darn what others say about you or your beliefs. :-) The words they threw at you---they are just words. They are just stating their beliefs. Both their and your beliefs are not always going to chime together beautifully. Your faith in your heart is more important than what some other fellow christians think of you. :-)
Imho, SOME people just want you to be a carbon-copy of them, and you refuse to do that. :-) That, itself, can be a bit annoying for them.

Well, I agree w/ you on a lot. Yes, the Bible does say hate the sin and love the sinner. However, Jesus never BEFRIENDED those who were non believers. Yes, He did converse w/ them, but he didn't "hang out" w/ them. Tolerance, and befriending are 2 different things that people confuse all the time. But don't worry, just pray that your homosexual friends will learn something from you.
One thing every Christian should remember is: always make sure your testimony is in good shape, people will always be looking at you, ready to judge.
Also, its not good for a Christian to hang out a lot w/ non Christians because sooner or later you'll start thinking like them, and thinking that they're ok. But no. They're not. Just pray about it, thats a very sensitive topic.

It is NOT unChristian like to accept homosexuals for who they are. I am Christian myself, and I have many gay friends. You are completely correct when you say that Jesus teaches us to love the sinners but hate the sin. He loves all his people equally, and the best thing a Christian can do is love their neighbor and spread love through the name of the Lord. You're a good woman.
It is those Christians who arent tolerant and who are judegemental that I despise, and that I think the Lord looks down upon as well, cuz they give Christians a bad name...so good for you. I am relieved to hear that there are other good Christians, and smart Christians out in the world

Yep! you are so right! and yes, their were homosexuals from Sodom, and probably before. It hasn't changed since those days. Yes it is sin and an abomination, and we do have to accept the fact that their here to stay. But as far as equal rights, we cannot allow the God given institution of marriage, between man and women, to them as an equal right. If they choose to live together in sin, then we have no choice but to accept that. We just need to put it in God's hands, and let Him deal with them, when that time comes. As far as befriending them, we need to befriend all people, no matter what race, color, or lifestyle. But we need to be wary, that they do not take advantage, exploit, or harm us. Yes Jesus did say love the sinner, hate the sin, but He also expects us to be wise, and to know the sin that is capable of hurting us as Christians.........God Bless!

Nothing is wrong with loving the sinner. If not can you say you love yourself when you sin?
As far as it's practice, it's nothing new. It's mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments.
When you say equal rights, define them. The right to marry? Well, my personal issue would be with those "Christian" churches that ignore those scriptures in the Bible that choose to do toss their beliefs out the window because they are trying to be seen as accepting of others. The church in Corinth as well as other churches did the same (in the New Testament) and Paul ripped them alive for doing so (for being "luke-warm" when it came to sin).
There's nothing wrong with being tolerant. It's hate that is unChristian like.

As a Christian, I say love the sinner. I know exactly what you mean by having your beliefs questioned because of how you feel/think. But you're exactly right: Christ ate with thieves and prostitutes and everybody thought it was bizarre! Clearly, He knows something we don't. ^_^ We've only the right to judge hearts that we can see into... that lets out pretty much everybody else, no matter what it is they're doing.

If you're looking for popular opinion based advise Im afraid mine won't be of much help alongside the thousands of others that you will most likely come across, but If you really want to know what Christ said and taught on the matter, I can direct you to a few portions of scripture for answers that can provide you with much better answers than you will likely find here....there are plenty of occasions throughout the gospels of Jesus spending time with the lowest of the low regarding sinners.....prostitututes, tax collectors, and many more.... Sin is sin, and homosexuality is no exception, however it is unique in that it is the result of
God giving someone over to his own lusts after ignoring him repeadedly (see Rom. 1:21-28) This is also why Homosexuals tend to be extremly hard hearted concerning the Gosple. Christ's purpose in spending time with sinners was very clear......to demonstrate a glimpse of grace to the people who needed it the most....the people who really understood how much they needed forgiveness.....it should be recognised as well that accoring to scripture,we are to treat homosexuals outside of the church much differently than inside. Paul rebuked the corintihian church harshly for being so willing to accept people who called themselves believers, and yet openly practiced immorality. In that instance Paul commanded the church to "put out the immoral brother" so that the rest of the church would not be corrupted. (see 1&2 Corinthians) IT is more loving according to Paul to "give such a one over to satan" (turn them back over to the world) so that in the end they will be saved....lest they reason within themselves that God accepts their homosexual lifestyle because the Church does also.......I know its not much, but I hopes that gives you a few places to look :) Dont take my word or anyone elses for it though.....look to see what the word says concerning it :)

Your views are very christian. I think that actual christians look at the gospel, and see how christ lived, and try to follow the same basic principles he did. Not going around judging people, and calling them abominations, and stuff like that. Jesus didn't teach us to hate anyone, and
It talks about it in the new and old testament, but in the new one, it's still people just referrring to the old one anyway.

Scripture says to hate the sin, not the sinner, right???
So, even though Christ didn't approve of prostitution and thievery, he still broke bread with them. My sister's gay (or as I like to say 'confused'), but although my view on homosexuality is Biblical, I still love my sis and pray one day she'll find what she's looking for through the Lord.

NO, it is not unchristianlike. Actually, it is more christian. I do not believe that homosexuality is right either, but I do not go around spouting condemnations. Although, I am not afraid to share my views, if asked. Do not worry about what people say to you, God will be pleased with your tolerance and acceptance for others and that is all that matters.
