I use Magic Eraser on my bone colored Formica. It gets rid of Kool-Aid, coffee, and tea stains. It even removed permanent marker. I use a spray cleaner afterward to remove the residue.

If the counter top and backsplash are laminate, the natural ageing will yellow after some time. You shouldn't use chlorine on that type as it will further add discoloration. You might have results with something like greased lightening or a product containing hydrochloric acid but use with care in a well ventilated area.
If it happens the surface is ceramic tile you should have more options and much better luck with restoring it to a more natural color. Again, try to find a cleaner with hydrochloric acid, making sure not to leave on any length of time and rinse well. It might be necessary to touch up the grout at this time also.
Hope this helps. Another solution would be to ask someone locally who installs this type surface what the mfr suggests for care, maintainace and stained surfaces. Fire restoration companies would be another source of information. Hope this helps.

My mom has the same problem in her home. You could find a different product or replace the countertops. My mom found out the hard way that if you leave the bleach on the counter for too long it will discolor it on its own.
My source says this:
Use a mild dishwashing liquid for plastic lamination and rinse well afterwards to prevent residue from getting on food.
Hope this helps a bit!

I would recommend replace the counter tops. LG HI-MACS has a color called Artic White which is just a white counter top. It has a 15 year warranty.

I am in the Real Estate business and we call the re-surfacing companies. For just a few hundred bucks you can have them re-surface it. They also mix custom colors. We love the way they perform.
