D. mutualism. As you should know, lichens are a fungus that has algae inside it. The lichen provides a hold on the rock or tree or whatever, and some minerals, and the algae makes sugars from photosynthesis and shares with the lichen.

To get back to your question. What kind of relationship is illustrated by lichen? Lichen and what? It takes a minimum of two to make a relationship. Lichen and a rock? Lichen and moss? Lichen and the cariboo who eat it?

This smells strongly of a homework assignment you are trying to get out of. However, I seem to recall it being competition.
