Thats exactly what my dog does when she is in the car. Dont believe that she has rabies. Your cat is just scared and the stress makes them "foam" at the mouth. Its ok. Maybe its the wind going in her face. Or, it could be that she is getting older because when my dog got older, she started doing it. Its natural.

Stress and Fear.........
Blind fold the cat !
Best probably to keep the cat away from the windows by putting it in a pet box.... but then again it'll probably meow alot.
Cat's don't like too much change and the unknown.
Curiousity kills the cat !

When she gets in the car she gets very nervous and have to use the bathroom right away. As they get older their bladders will get weeker. Try putting a small litter box on the floor of the back seat.

I know everyome else has said this... but it is a sign of stress. I wouldn't take her in the car unless you HAVE too, and when you do, bring a favorite blanket, or toy. I would also consider buying a feline calming product, they come in sprays and plug ins. Hope she calms down!!

As your cat gets older her tolerance changes like ours does. She cannot handle the heat in the car. It is to hot for her.

She's thirsty. Typically brought on by the intriduction of stress of some sort - perhaps she doesn't care for riding in the car.

Typically it's due to anxiety and/or fear. It's not unusual for older cats (any animal for that matter) to obtain phobias in their old age.

Sounds like she's getting a little car-sick. Maybe you've changed your driving style, slightly, and she doesn't approve.
