I have this old '86 Cadillac that I want to sell. I would like to know if anyone out there can tell me of a good junkyard that would buy my car at a decent price. The car runs good and the body is good. I bought it for $900. It has a good paint job. Good not great. If anyone can tell me of one out there that would be willing to pay for an old car let me know. I dwell in the San Fernando Valley. Do the U Pick Parts buy old cars?

If the car runs and looks good you would be getting ripped off by junking it. Scrap value does not take either into regards to the value.
I have found that any car for under $1,500 in the LA area will be sold in short order to the immigrant crowd.
List the car on bulletin boards, and free publications like the shopping newspapers that are distributed about town. List it for cash, take no checks, and make sure you have a signed release of liability form. Good luck!

I am not an expert, but I would say get on the web and get a list of junk yards in your area and their phone numbers. Then call around and ask if they buy whole cars, most likely yes, and what price they would give you for your car.

At that age your car is a "Classic." You will have to go to a special car site on the web to get a value. New car sites on the web will tell you it has no value because they don't go back to 1986. Go to www.hemmingsmotornews.com and go to the price guide to see what your "classic" is worth. It might give you a ball park figure of what it's worth so that the junk dealers don't take advantage of your lack of expertise. Also if the car is a special edition of some kind, such as a "Fleetwood Brougham," it may have a few dollars more value. Even in a junk situation a special automobile is worth more.
