I'm from Ks when I came to Cali and heard the words "fish taco" I wanted to barf. I tried them after about 2 years of living here and am now addicted. It's not like you think.

Haven't seen any in VA, but they might be good.
I thought a crawfish Po Boy would be gross too untill I went to New Orleans, they were awesome! So might be the Fish Taco.

Believe it or not, they tend to pop up everwhere depending on where you are based on the local fish.
There is a place in Jackson, MS (Julep) that has catfish tacos.
So yes, they are everywhere - sort of a california fusion cuisine.

I'm from Canada as well and they aren't sold around here, but I have heard of them. You're right, it does sound disgusting, but I can't knock it until I've tried it!
