Please note: I am not asking whether we should live a sin free life, but whether a human can actually do it - especially in modern society with all its trappings.

I do not believe a person can live a sin free life. I f you wonder why I feel this way it's because we are born into a world of sin and only a baptism can "wash away" the sin. But, it clearly states in the bible that impure thoughts are sinful. Now I don't know if you have but I have never met a person who hasn't at least thought impurely or committed an act of sin. I think whether people accept it or not we are constantly living in and around sin therefore it gets the best of us. And of course this is only my opinion.

BigDaddy, everything is possible, but this scenario is most likely improbable. If you nitpick and define sin without any room for forgiveness i.e., you take a pencil from your office, is that a sin? If you tightly define sin, yes it is., so you can see the improbability of not sinning throughout your lifetime. Can you not let your mind wander and possibly lust after your neighbors wife? Maybe your overate and are guilty of gluttony? Again it is possible but not probable. The only scenario that I can find a sinless life is in a society that does not have organized religion and does not have defined sins, if lusting after your neighbors wife is an acceptable practice in your society than it is not a sin! would you agree??

Good question, probably not an entirely correct answer, but I try.

If it were possible to live a sin free life Jesus would not have had to die...Jesus died to pay the penalty for sin because man was without hope and could not live up to the law and the wages of sin was death...Now that Christ has paid the penalty of sin a Christian is no longer under the law but the law is written on our hearts...now we cant continue to live a life of sin...because we have to die to sin the same as Christ died on the cross...but that doesnt mean we will suddenly become perfect...but it is not acounted as sin but as I said we cannot have a sinful lifestyle because we are Christians and we must allow God to make the changes in our lives.

Yes, It's possible. There is a person I know who LIVES a sin-free life. And teaches others to do the same as much as they can. Such people as called saints who refrain from regualr/ general vices and unnecessary desires that make us go weak in the knees.

However, your point is valid when it comes to living in the midst of modern society. How many times have we really bothered to return excess change to the friendly & forgetful chemist, and the number of times we've had to tell lies to our parents about why we're late from school to cover up for the 'sin' of stopping by with a group of friends to play football, how many times have we imagined doing somthing nasty to a friend who might have hurt us, and on how many occassions have we had to tell our boss that we are so sick to move but we actually get dressed and go hang out with beer in ourt hands to a pub and ogle at prospective flirts....such and on many other occassions, we've been sinners to some degree...however, y worry when your're not really harming som1 with your white lies or crazy ideas?

Just take a chill pill and do YOUR best in trying to be as sinless as possible in this crazy modern world!

No. Your a sinner from birth. The first time you talked back to your parents, my twins do this now, and they are only 3, makes it impossible to live a sin free life. You sin before you even know its wrong.

The body we live in is sinful but if the soul and spirit has been saved then the sins we do are not imputed to our account because Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, He was buried and took our sins away and rose again the third day for our justification. So trust in Him and what He did for you and your sins will never be brought up. 2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Sure. Sin is used as a guilt trap. Xians love to use guilt to make you feel bad and control your actions. It's all guilt. Is it possible to live a guilt-free life? Only if you're a pschotic-socialpath with no remorse or empathy. It is possible to live a religious guilt free life. be a freethinker.

No, you can not live a completely sin-free life. You can live a mostly sin free one but every one has little slip ups.
