The Klu Klux Klan was originally a group to keep the south from being 'restructured" after the Civil War. However, another group appeared and began the movement that has mutated into the group we see today.

I think the KKK is a group of people that like to hide be hide sheets and can't step up and speak there mind without hiding. I also don't think it was away to stop immigration it was a bunch of pigs that needed someone to hate so they picked the black man. But they have no problem sleeping with them and having them do work they didn't want to do. And yes I'm a white man. I have my feelings about black but I think the KKK is a joke.

the KKK represents the ghosts of the confederate soldiers who died in the civil war. They were comprised of veterns and children of veterns of the Confederacy. They would kill blacks who tried to own property, vote, and otherwise participate in society. Unionists that moved to the south, known as carpet bagers, were also killed and terrorized, as were Catholics and Jews.
The KKK was a terrorist/insurgency formed to resist Reconstruction. They also were opposed to the Republicans, because the Repubicans freed the slaves and tried to reform the south so blacks could participate in society. For a while, they were major contributors to the Democrat party, and also a backbone government agency to intimidate blacks, jews, and protestors in the 40-70's.

No. I think the KKK was a hate group scapegoating everyone they thought was a threat. Blacks, foreign born, Catholics and Jews. They were afraid of everyone who was different. And they didn't just live in the South. They also lived all over the west coast and midwest. They didn't try to stop immigration. They just hated everyone they didn't understand.

Ku Klux Klan" is the name of a number of past and present fraternal organizations in the United States that have advocated white supremacy and anti-Semitism; and in the past century, anti-Catholicism, and nativism.
The Klan's first incarnation was in 1866. Founded by veterans of the Confederate Army, its main purpose was to resist Reconstruction, and it focused as much on intimidating "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags" as on putting down the freed slaves. It quickly adopted violent methods, and was involved in a wave of 1,300 murders of Republican voters in 1868. A rapid reaction set in, with the Klan's leadership disowning it, and Southern elites seeing the Klan as an excuse for federal troops to continue their activities in the South. The organization was in decline from 1868 to 1870, and was destroyed in the early 1870s by President Ulysses S. Grant's vigorous action under the Civil Rights Act of 1871 (also known as the Ku Klux Klan Act).

A very bad group--one had to be a white, anglo-saxon Protestant to belong to. They hated everyone else: The Blacks, The Jews, The Catholics, and the list goes on.
They killed in the name of their organization--like I said, a very bad group--which wanted a pure race (as did Hitler).

The KKK was white people Vs. minority. They were (I say were because now they focus on blacks only) the Nazis of our country. They didn't like blacks, muslims or mexicans. Anyone who wasn't white was a target.
