And I just wanted to know if it was a sign ..that both of the birds are always pecking at each others beaks. What does that mean?? Does that signify that at least one of them is female or male?

Pecking at each others beaks is a sign of courtship. Parakeets are partners for life. I have 1 male and 1 female. If you look on their beaks at the waxy part. If the waxy part is pink or brownish, it's a female. If it's blueish, its male. You can't tell in young parakeets though.

What everyone said about the nose color is right. The pecking... are they aggressive, or just sort of picking at each other. The picking is grooming, it is just a lovey thing they do. My bird does it to me! ( She is an only "child') If they are pecking... there might be jealousy or trouble. I read where one cockatoo ate the feet off of another.. oooh bad. But, happy ending, they made the cockatoo new feet and it lived happily ever after. No lie.

When your parakeet is about a year old, their nose will change colors. The skin part above their beak with the nostrils on it will change brown or pink if it's a girl, or blueish if its a boy. Also if its a girl, then when its about one and a half to two years old then it will lay an unfertilzed egg.

Though the part about the colors is right, it is my understaning that males' cere (the fleshy part above the beak) will be blue and female's can be a variety of other colors (there are more than just brown or pink).

The bump above the nose of a male is bluish and the bump above the nose of a female is brownish. Males tend to talk more and females tend to gnaw on things more.
