I do too. It annoys the hell out of me. What I usually do when I'm walking with someone I know who does that is that I tell him/her in a nice way that I'm not comfortable with it so he/she won't do it again whenever we're together or even when he/she is alone. And if someone whom I don't know does that, I would just give them the kind of look that says "what you're doing grosses me", I'm not sure if it works... hopefully it does... Ü

I have always detested spitting. It is extremely dangerous if the 'spitter' is a Hepatitis C carrier. Incidentally, when I came to London in the 1960's, spitting of phlegm was very common. The pavements were covered in what were known as 'East End Oysters'.......... (sorry about that)........

spitting is a natural thing to do
there are bigger fish to fry and society has much larger problems than this
public roads get spit on, the saliva evaporates,
good lord some people get so bent out of shape over the most trivial of matters
there are people starving on this planet, you're worried about a little spit on the sidewalk??
grow up

I have been around a long time, 62 years, and i detest it to, but have never found a way to other than to tell the individual how nasty and unsanitary it is, just remember, you may make them mad, so try to be diplomatic. Jcal

Spitting on the road is rude to be sure, but harmless!!! Don't obsess over it. Worry about something more important like hunger, homlessness, MS, Aids, world peace, etc...

I've spit on the street before. Sometimes you have something in your throat and don't have a tissue to spit into. Sometimes it can't be helped. I'm sure people are not doing it to annoy you.

I personally don't see spitting as a major problem. Instead, why not join an anti- pollution group somewhere? That's one that I would join.

a law should be passed that anybody who feels so familiar with the road to spit on it should be made to lick his spit off the road, then people can get picture of how disgusting it is to force people to be exposed to dirty stuff.

spitting is a habit, and i don't think you can do anything about other people's bad manners. Rise above this issue and be the mentor for all those spitters out there.
