The laws back then were much different than today. To much focus is put on the prophet and not enough on God the creator of ALL.

Gee, I don't know, maybe because he was a pedophile? Punishable? Now yes, but that was a very decadent time apparently, he had lots of people murdered in pretty nasty ways too, but no one seems to concerned about that. Guess its better to ignore all the evil he did and the whole "kill everyone thats not muslim" thing, while telling everyone "Islam is a religion of peace". Heaven help this world for calling a pedophile and murderer a prophet and actually following his contradictory treachings.

this question would have been more relevant - had we lived in his(saw) time. to give a short ans: human being by nature are shor-sighted. we don't know the wisdom behind all things, true? yes. Prophet Muhammad(saw) didn't do or say anything from his(saw) own whims. he(saw) only did and spoke what was inspired in him(saw) from Allah(swt) thru angel Gibreel. he married Aysha(ra), mother of the believers, that she would carry out much of the message to rest of the people. she conveyed big portion of the Hadith(sayings and actions of the prophet(saw) long after he(saw) had passed a way) - and also she conveyed tons of rulings that are for women only ... hope that helps.
