Because america is more concerned with there own people. I was in the army, and i was in Iraq last year. I personally feeel that people are dying on both sides for no reason.

The location of an article in the newspaper is determined by the editing staff, based on the level of interest of the readers.
I believe the political administration, in power, has some influence as to the page an article is placed. An example of that would be if the politicians are trying to draw attention away from an item, story or article, it will ask or direct the newspapers to hide the article somewhere in the back section. The further back an article is, the likelihood of it being read becomes less and less.

Because we are in a very selfish society where only the people you deal with every day mean anything and anyone who is different in any way is considered less significant. As a member of the U.S army I have to say we have a hell of along way to go before the true reports start to get out and we show everyone else that we do care about Iraqis and give them the headlines instead of ignoring the death of our equal human beings.

The media is in league with the government. They want to downplay how terrible this war is for the Iraqis. Remember Bush wanted to help the Iraqis by overthrowing an oppressive government and helping them set up democracy. But it is coming at a high toll of innocent lives including children. This is embarrassing to the US government. These people might still be alive if the US had not invaded the country.

I think that while most Americans find Iraqi civilian deaths a regrettable thing, it is natural that they are more preoccupied with losing any of their own. It hits closer to home. I'm sure Iraqis are more saddened by Iraqi deaths than American deaths too...
I am Canadian myself. I don't think that removing Saddam was a bad thing (especially if it's true that his regime killed more Iraqis than the war has), but I wish it would finally be over!

Because America has more influence and power over the worlds media. Got alot to do with politics among other countries as well they would all like to be on America's good side than Iraq owing to the power status difference.

Because of the supreme selfishness. Only Americans are human beings according to them. Other people are not like that. The live of one American is worth the lives of ten of non American.
Hmm! God is with those in a minor position and will bring down thos who tyrranize the lives of others, sooner or later. We must see it, we or our children. Where is Russia? It is a good example. We shall see!!!

Because they don't want it on the front page.
They don't want you to think of those in the military as people, who have names, and wives, and children and parents and relatives. To them they are just a number!!!
Open up those oil pipes!!
