What possible difference does it have on you, the straight white Christian male age 29 who is married and has a kid, if your gay neighboor adam and steve go to the court house to get a piece of paper,

if that piece of paper says adam and steve are MARRIED
or adam and steve are CIVIL UNIONized

THEY ARE STILL HAVING GAY SEX NEXT DOOR TO YOU

they probably know you wont be happy for them one way or the other so what difference does it make

I think some of us in America need to admit that while we ourselves our not homophobic or hate gays, some of us do, and thats a sad state of america in my humble opinion

How about we just do away with marriage and give everyone the same privileges. Health care the same quality for everyone no matter how much they make or who they are sleeping with. Marriage is an outdated concept that is rather limiting. Just my oh so humble opinion.

I dont think it makes much difference to anyone, except Adam and Steve. Being married will get them certain rights a privileges they wont have by just being in a Civil Union. And to be honest, if Adam and Steve want to spend their lives together, they should be able to, and get tax breaks, medical and health benefits and the like. Heterosexual marriage has declined so much that less than 50% of marriages can stay together. So let them have at it, it certainly cant make it worse, and they deserve the breaks too.

The biggest problem I have with differentiating between civil union and marriage is that there are a large number of heterosexual unions that are not before God. If we are going to say that a marriage has to be before god to call it marriage, then we must diminish all those marriages straight or gay that occur in a courthouse and are merely a legal ceremony.

Perhaps a better idea would be to keep the term marriage as a universal for every couple striaght or gay, however give those married in a church before God the option of calling it a Christian Union or Godly Marriage.

I haven't any goal of stomping on anybody else's ideals, however they're stomping on mine. I'm a christian, too, and there are church buildings available in the market that might be inclined to do a homosexual marriage ceremony (Episcopalian, Unitarian, MCC, and others) and reformed temples might additionally do it for Jewish homosexual couples. Not all christian church buildings feel this is a sin for 2 guys (or 2 ladies) to be in love, and aid their correct to be married. The conservatives, specifically the devout ones, say "what is the change when you name it a civil union-you are nonetheless getting the privileges?" Well, I wish to invite correct again at them, "Yeah, what is the change?" Then name it a wedding. They wish the delight that incorporates one other name. They like booking marriage for straights considering the fact that deep down they feel immediately relationships are the one real legitimate ones. We do not need equality, to not point out dignity, till we've got precisely the equal rights and privileges as straights. By the way in which, the fundamentalist church buildings might now not be required to participate in homosexual weddings if it have been towards their ideals. So what are they petrified of?

It does matter what the paper says. By having two designations you create a state of seperate but equal. This country already went through that once and have already realized that is wrong so why repeat a mistake. Using the term Civil Unions makes homosexuals second class citizens in the eyes of the law and that is wrong. One country, one term - marriage. Marriage should be for all regardless of what gender you wish to enter into marriage with.

gay couples face many issues as they do not enjoy the same civil liberties that a straight couple enjoy- I am reffering to married couples
for instance in the hospital when your loved one has come out of surgery or when you are dying, the surgeon talks to the spouse and the hospital staff let the spouse stay with their dying loved one but the homosexual must die alone, some judges can find your will invalid after death, this happened to a gay couple who had built a home together and lived in it for years until one died ,the other became homeless, but if they were straight the response would not be so inhuman you lost your spouse and do not face losing your home and actually get insurance benefits to help pay for the funeral , it is wrong that a private sexual decision is the reason, that one must face discrimination and horrible consequences, because they (homosexuals)are not afforded the same civil liberties as the rest of society, despite the us constitution's guarnatees that all men enjoy the same civil liberties and religion should have nothing to do with civil rights

It has to do with the legal rights of a married couple. If you are married you have tax breaks and certain rights in the event of death. There is no reason why a gay couple should not be allowed to enjoy these rights too. I agree with you that it is a sad state. I am excited for the day that we will look back at President Bush and laugh because he tried to stall the natural progression of society with his own fears and assumptions. I am so glad he lost!

A big differance is two men or two women can't make babies! It is
unnatural ! Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
God DOES NOT HATE HOMOSEXUALS HE HATES SIN>2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
It is not what we do but what we are is the reason sin exist. There is
but only one sin that God won't forgive.Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit
If God is calling you right now and deep down in your heart you know
that Jesus shed his Blood for your forgiveness Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. You are walking on very very thin ice because God Doesn't have to draw you again to repentance. When you knowing and
willfully turn your back on God you could have shut any door of hope
for yourself ONLY GOD KNOWS.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Please come to Jesus and be Born of God.Pray a simple prayer
like this "God I know and believe with all my heart that I am a sinner
and want to receive Jesus Christ as my savior.Father fill me with your assurance and lead me to a Jesus believing church that I can grow in
your grace. Thanks for saving me.In Jesus name
