My friend just asked me if I had heard of any potential negative health effects from eating tortillas or tortilla chips. I thought that sounded like a perfect question for Yahoo! Answers. Does anyone have any information?

Of course not.
Tortillas are rich in calcium, are non fat cereal. It doesn't contain many calories, just 70 each one, medum size. Also it contains fiber, dietetic fiber, the soluble type which help your good intestinal bacterium to be healthier and protects you against some intestinal infections. Soluble fiber also helps to avoid your intestine from absorbing all the fat contain in food.
But comercial tortilla chip may contain too much salt, some conservatives, and more fat.
If you made your tortilla chips, they will get oil when frying. but that's all. And don't re-heat or reuse many times the same oil. Oil turns bad for your heart.

I don't find anything wrong with tortilla.
