Vegemite is a highly nutritious spread, made from vegan sources, and I'm told it is an aquired taste. That said, I have had it and it tastes strangly like Oxo or Bovril, which is hard to figure because there are no meat products in it. It was developed during WW2, in England, and troops from Australia, and Aussie war brides, brought it Down Under.
I think it tastes better on salty crackers, but some people prefer it in sandwiches because that's the way they've always eaten it.

My best friend's mother is from Australia, and she loves vegemite! From what I know, vegemite is a fermented vegetable paste. Aussies love it on toast or white bread. It's actually not too bad!

Trick is, a scrape of Vegemite on warm white fresh breadrolls (out of the oven) with loads of butter. Its great that way. Never on a spoon- like peanut butter.

indeed I have, but you need to put vegemite on butter first (put butter on bread, then vegemite). Otherwise, it's just just awful

a vegemite sandwich is bread, buttered, then with vegemite.
when aussies do surveys and stuff on foreigners to see if they like vege, they tend to give it to them straight, but i grew up on the stuff, and even i dont like it straight from the jar....it needs butter and bread......
you should try it, you might surprise yourself!!!
