I know how you feel. I have Chronic Lyme disease, lupus, cfs and Fms. I had a sweet female beagle who lay on my bed right beside me when I was sick, when I fell and broke my shoulder and when I had surgery. She was to active and healthy to have her live the way she had to. I could not even walk her any more. I placed an ad in the newspaper and screened the people till I found her the home I wanted for her. You could also place her picture on pet finders.com. Good luck its a very unselfish thing to do but it doesn't mean it hurts any less. I hope he finds a loving home.

Hi,
There is an organization called A.R.K. and another organization called H.A.R.P.S. that foster animals until they can be adopted. The people at PetsMart will put you in contact with them. These people come to PetsMart with animals for adoption. If there is a PetsMart near you, go there or get a friend to go there and explain you situationa and your doggie's situation and ask that your doggie be fostered until he can be taken to his new home. They may let you foster him until he goes to his new home. I had a Jack Russell I could not keep because I did not have a big enough place for her and I was not high energy enough for her so I contacted PetsMart and the people at A.R.K. and they put me in touch with a very nice lady who was able to take Ladybug to her farm where she fostered animals for A.R.K. I have since learned that Ladybug has a nice home and is doing great. Please try this way. It is the best unless you know of someone who will take your dog and really take care of him. These people at H.A.R.P.S. and A.R.K. carefully screen the people who want to adopt the dogs. They have to fill out a questionnaire and they are not automatically approved. The questionnaire has such questions on it as "how many hours a day will you be away" and "who will take care of the dog". There are others also asking about the health care of the dog and other important things. Good luck in finding a home for your doggie.

Go on the internet and look for a Lab rescue in your state. If there are more than one, contact them all. Rescues are usually tight for space. If your are close to another state, look at those rescues also. Rescues normally have ways to transport dogs if they are not close. I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time. Rescues will take your dog to a vet, have anything done that needs to be done, and will keep the dog in a foster home until they can find the right home for him. If you could get vet records, it would be helpful. That way if he has already been vaccinated, they won't have to do it again. Over vaccination is bad for dogs.

Sorry to hear of your situation.

Just go over to http://www.google.com

and do a search with the words, Labrador rescue

Here you will find Lab rescue sites for all over the country.
If you don't find one near you, call the closest one. The odds are they will know who handles your area.

The great thing about breed rescue groups, is that they will find your little one a good home.
