i dont care what you call it, why is the federal government wasteing time on it
if two people march to the city hall to get a piece of paper that no one else is ever going to see why would anyone care if it says marriage or civil union
this is all about homophobia and karl rove knows that if he gets bush to talk about gay marriage bad that homophobic people in ohio will go vote repubilcan and they can keep the house and senate
in doing so this serves CORPORATE INTEREST and screws all of society straight and gay
it sickens me but democrats do the same thing
politics is all about the wedge issue so you can go on tv and say my opponent voted this way or that way and thats why hes for gays having sex or hes for flag burning cause he voted against hilarys flag burning thing,
IT SICKENS ME THEY PLAY AMERICANS FOR FOOLS
and like little sheeple we shall vote republican and democrat and the media will tell us who won and we shall have SOLD OUR SOULS FOR WHAT SO A PIECE OF PAPER WOULD SAY CIVIL UNION INSTEAD OF THE WORD MARRIAGE
you know i love you lasermouse you know your my friend but i am getting all worked up over this issue and i dont know why im not gay i dont even . . .
never mind

Yes its about more than marriage. Though I'm not specifically against gay civil unions per se, I'm am of the opinion that morally speaking the "homosexual" lifestyle is a sin. The more the world conforms to the ideal that we should all support this life style and be tolerant the further our country will sink into ruin. I believe too strongly in the Bible precepts and precedents and as with all other countries that have major "moral" depletion of an effort toward holding to the commandments of God the further God withdraws His protective hand from that land. Just look at the Middle East right now and Southeast Asia. The Middle East is the seat of haboring terrorist activities carried out in the name Gehad. Southeast Asia is the most corrupt society on the planet right now..with the sex trafficing of children, child labor, drugs and is a mass economic hub for corporations around the world that take advantage of the people of this region. Continuing around the globe if you go to Europe and Russia they are fraught with societal ills not the least of which is an aging population without a tax support base of youth workers to pay for medical care and living expenses. The USA thinks our social security system is a sham...Go to Europe. They also face an ever growing problem of running out of drinkable water. China is facing major environmental impacts with the mass coal consumption and industrial waste disposal into the rivers and ocean there. As well, they are facing a crisis for oncoming generations due to the lack of female infants born over the last 30 years. They have a generation totally comprized of over 400,000 million males and no females. So...while America has problems...its nothing compared to most areas of the rest of the world...don't even get me started on Sub-saharan Africa. So go ahead...lets all vote for gay marriage, legalization of illicit drugs, abortion rights for 13 year olds...but if you make that bed...be prepared to sleep in it. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

Im all for civil union, I dont think it should be considered wrong for 2 adults to live together and be elligable for eachothers benefits. If you have a problem with gay marriage, then dont get married if you become gay ;)
Civil unions wont hurt anyone, and only benefit those in it.

Civil unions are not the same as marriage, and it is about more than marriage. "Separate but equal" doesn't work and has never worked. This is the same b.s. that African Americans had to go through to get their civil rights, which are still not enforced 100%. Segregation was supposed to be "separate but equal" too, but of course it wasn't.

I think that we should be allowed civil unions because it's a civil right. Who's the government or American people to say that it's unnatural or abnormal? But the question is will civil unions still be discriminated against once legal....Probably so

Something needs to be done to protect the rights of gay couples. A gay couple that I know spent 23 years together, bought a house, land, 2 cars and enjoyed a loving nurturing relationship. One lost a battle with cancer last February and his closed-minded family is now attempting to take house, land , ect. from the remaining partner. Everything is tied up in probate so they can get his half. These people barely spoke to either of them over the past 2 decades. Without some type of legal documentation these things will continue to happen. (jmho)

It is a point that to label it a civil union is a method of discrimination.....Separate but equal. I should hope in the 21st century we could get away from such social inequalities. Marriage for all regardless of what gender you are marrying.

as a hetero, i will not be content until gays are given the same rights as the rest of us. Until then, there is no justice or equality. When one of my brothers or sisters suffers, I suffer. Marriage for all, not some. Sorry.

I think it is an anti-homosexual thing. Personally, I have no problem at all with two consenting adults deciding to be together. Civil unions, marriages, whatever name you apply to the merging of two lives,it is still an expression of love.

They let Micheal Jackson get married. They let Convicted murders, child molesters and rapist get married, where exactly did this notion that marriage is sacred come from and even it is we long ago stopped caring. If the Churches don't want to marry Gays well that is their right, but the Government shouldn't stop them.
