I am a Christian, but have lightened up over time. I dont attend church, I think its full of hypocrites. I think homosexuality is a sin, but dont care who does it, have gay friends, and support gay marriage. I think everyone is entitled to make up their own minds, religious or not.
So what gives? I am so sick of being lumped in with fire and brimstone, hypocritical, bible thumping, shove it down your throat Chrisitians. "All Christians are rude", "All Christians are liars". Its like saying ALL homosexuals are pedophiles, even though only a small percentage is, or ALL killing is murder, when legally not all of it is (abortions). What is with these broad generalizations? Dont non-believers know how to spell SOME, and stop lumping us all into the far right movement?

I believe what I believe based on many things. Mainly the fact I have a brain that works, and can look at the worls around me and see that there is a gray area, most dont address. I didnt re-write my religion, I know what it says, but seperate it from the world, and use common sense. God did give us common sense you know.

Oh wow, so now people question my Christianity because I dont belong to the far right? Cant win for losing.
My personal relationship with God and Jesus is strong. I dont need to defend it, nor my belief. I see posters who are clearly far right questioning my personal life with Jesus, because I am not a religous extremist. Thanks for proving my point for me guys, NOONE can show any diffrence to you, or you judge them. Bet you know what the Bible says about that!

A lot of nonbelievers accuse Christians of making broad generalizations and having closed minds, but the more I read what they write, the more I see it the other way around. Christians are basically in agreement on "Salvation through Christ" but then I see they branch out in other directions. I think this should be proof to nonchristians that not ALL Christians think the same and most think for themselves.

Christianity is about Forgiveness and Love!
If you can't forgive your brothers and sisters in Church enough to attend and allow yourself to grown how can you come on this board and say others that what they are doing is wrong??
No one wants to be compared or lumped in with extremist, but I think you need to look in your own eye before pointing out the log in someone elses. This coming from someone who wants to see you be a productive Christian not a sit at home Christian and talk about all the other Christians that are trying to do good. God Bless and I hope you don't take offense, because that's not the goal, I just want you to see how mean you sound.

John 15:19 (New International Version)
(Jesus Speaking) "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."
Don't worry about the people who lump us into groups. They are of the world. Just don't fall back into being like them. Stay close to Jesus, sister!
It would be good for you to find a church, though (or maybe a Bible study group or a youth group or at least some group of believers). Fellowship is very important to your spiritual health. Not "all" churches are full of hypocrites. We all screw up sometimes, but it doesn't make us a bunch of hypocrites. Prayin' for ya!

Hi there,
If I may ask you a question. Do you have a real good, living relationship with Jesus. It only seem that you are in the Church to be seen there. Stop moaning about other people in the church and look towards yourself and ask yourself. You are not in the Church to please anybody but Jesus. If you go through the Bible and ask the Spirit to guide you, you will find anwers to your questions. We ( christians) do argue, moaning, and fight each other about silly issues, where the Bible do take a stand in certian issues. We as Christians cannot judge a person. That job belongs to God. We must rather look towards ourselves and beg God for forgiveness for everything we did wrong.
Good Luck and stay strong...!!!!!!!. Don't loose your focus, and remember have fun.....it is fun to be a christian........

Correct me if I am wrong but how can a person call themselves a Christian and go against many things Christianity stands for? That does not make sence. Why call yourself anything at all? Why is a label so important? You, yourself say the people at Church are hypocrites. Now you see why many non-christians may think that way too? Are you not being a hypocrite by calling yourself one thing and doing another?

Well, I think people just love labels, like "fire and brimstone, hypocritical, bible thumping, shove it down your throat Chrisitians (sic)". Pardon me if I own up to being a Bible thumper while rejecting the rest of your "broad generalization"

I have no idea why people group everyone into lumps. I'm the same way you are with christianity and it does get old the whole "all of you christians" thing. And obviously, no, there are people out there in the world that must not be able to spell some

Out of what all you just said. Only 1 thing makes scense.
I believe you, when you say: You WERE a Christian. You stopped going to church. because it was full of people like you.
I would hope you return to church and get your life staitened out. Don't BE the example..go and .FOLLOW the example.

Because its easier that way, basically. You can say the same about any group on the planet. People will always try to generalize and stereotype for the sake of simplicity or because they have some prejudice against that particular group.

The irony with people like that is they accuse all Christians of being bigots and prejudice main while they are being bigots and prejudice. All Christians do not share one brain, many are very liberal and many are very Conservative, many are very educated and many have little schooling at all, people can't just lump them into one group saying "all Christians do this" or "all Christians do that"
