most of the life you've got?

The Irony is that if there is a God (unlikely) he would want you to use your brain, and make the most of the time you've got, rether then hoping it will be better later on.

Woo for using your brain.
It makes youa sk question s though and regardless of whther there is a God or not, religious people get a bit edgy about that.

Why waste your time on this stupid yahoo. If i believed that this life was all there was, that once I die i fade into non existance. I would be wanting to do all i can to make this the best life i know how. Not knowing when it will end or if i am going to be jilted out of it. Knowing when those I love die, all they stood for all that they where is gone forever. Even having a "bad day" it cannot be recovered it is lost. That all I ever worked for all my accomplishments every thing I have earned, bought, and saved to be scavenged by someone else. All i was, to be forgoten never mentioned, my existance in all of time meaningless and of no imporatance. Snuffed out in an instant of time never to exist again. Only DNA to pass on though even that is not your concience only a mixed conglomorate of you and another DNA sample. When you where born you have nothing and in your death you will have nothing. I am sorry but thats a very depressing life.

I know that I am made in the triune image of the Living God spirit soul and body Gen 1. That He formed me in my mother Psalm 139. That I am called for a purpose Mark 16:15-20. When I am done will recieve a reward for my work here. Mat 25:21 Mat 16:27 Col 3:24 Rev 22:12. Not just from what this word says, no, its from whom I know. There is no fading blackness no empty tunnel no greiving only joy. I know the One who gave me this life to be a steward over will meet me at the end of it. He will ask me what i did with it. All i can say is i have done what you told me. Show Him His harvest i collected. See His smile, hear the words, well done..

Why can you not live life to the fullest and worship God. Perhaps I am just a wonderful multi-tasker, but I can and do both and God makes this life better, a lot better than walking around hating everyone for their believes. God taught to love everyone no matter what, no strings attached, no matter what you believe in I think that is an excellent way to live life and it has made my life fuller because I do not have to worry about what religion everyone is and what they are doing, that is their business and God's not mine. So I would say I get the best of both worlds, treat people with kindness and make this world better as well as living a life I can be proud of for God.

Christians know how to make the most out of the life they have, because living a Godly life isn't not making the most out of it, in fact it is. Being a Christian gives you a sense of peace which is otherwise hard to obtain.
Although this fact may not be a true Christian thing to say, Christians have nothing to lose if their God isn't real. Others do if God is real.
I agree with hannahonelove
Plus, religion is not fear of death, why, Christians do not need to be scared of death because they know that God has a plan for them, and, if they die, they go to heaven, which is a much better place then earth.

When you say 'won't you have wasted your life chasing an impossibility' I assume you mean that at the end of life when the truth is finally known there will be a moment when both believer and unbeliever will know whether the other has either wasted his life or not?

Who is going to tell you that you have either wasted your life or not? Is there going to be a voice after death that confirms or denies your life of unbelief?

If, as your question assumes, there is nothing but oblivion after death, there will be no voice therefore to settle this matter. So, in this circumstance, both believer and unbeliever will not be able to have 'closure' on the question of God's existence because neither will be aware of anything at all. For both positions of faith, no loss and no remorse therefore. For, how can you regret making a mistake if your are in oblivion.. mmm?

On the other hand, if there is a voice (and Jesus made it clear that his words would raise up ALL men and women at the end of time) that confirms or denies your life of unbelief, the question you need to ask yourself is 'won't I have wasted my life chasing the impossibility of God not existing?'

There is of course a further complication, among many, that arises out of this kind of questioning, and that is, if you knew precisely WHEN you were going to die, you could afford the luxury of delaying your decision about God right up til the last moment. This of course is risky and its what Israel does throughout its history and God continually sent prophets to warn them about the consequences of procrastination of this kind.

Short of writing a 300 page rational argument for the sociological efficacy of understanding how to reconcile eternity with the future all I want to say to you is this:
The words we eat today are the words that will raise us up tomorrow when eternity gatecrashes our life with words that have pre-existed our time and space. Jesus is the those Words (The Logos) the Words became flesh and dwelt among us so that we could feed again off the Tree of Life that was in the garden of Eden - a symbolic reminder of man's relationship with the author of eternity spoilt by unbelief (sin). Jesus' words are his flesh and he begged his disciples to eat his flesh (not literally - which is how many reacted and turned away from following him) because he knew his words were the alpha and omega of truth about eternity.

Finally, the reason why nations and tribes have fought each other thorughout the history of mankind is solely because of their erroneous belief in their own strength to control the future by controlling their neighbour. The system of control is the evil that Jesus sharply attacked.

Enough said for now www.markgolding.com

First of all, He does exist. You will find that out soon enough. Second of all, I'd rather believe and find out it isn't true (BUT IT IS) and have nothing happen than to not believe and spend eternity in Hell. But since God does exist, and I do believe, I know I'm going to Heaven. I truly hope you do, too. But that's totally up to you. Only you can make that decision. Christ died for YOUR sins, too. Hate to break it to you. You can bash the idea all you want, but the reality is your sins can be forgiven just like mine. All you have to do is believe and ask forgiveness. Wouldn't you rather spend eternity in Paradise? I know I would. Sorry if it seems like I'm trying to force this on you, because I'm not. That's not what Christians are supposed to do. I just hope that you come to realize what you can have. I'll say a prayer for you.

I like to base my religious beliefs in a style similar to the movie "Dogma." I know it was just a movie...but I can't help but think that maybe NONE of the religions have gotten it right. Who are we to say that Jesus exists, but Buddah doesn't? We aren't all-knowing. We only know what we were taught at church or at home when we were children. You can show a 2 year old a picture of a cat and say it's a dog and they will grow up KNOWING that it is a dog and not a cat. (I hope I didn't confuse anyone there.) I say believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I want to believe. And afterwards, we'll all be better for accepting individuality.

Who's wasting life? to be following guidelines for peace and joy.. and happy, trusting marriage.. I found God (and Jesus) in the Rocky Mountains, almost 30 years ago, and it was the best high and best joy I ever had.. and it still keeps getting better.. does life still have it's struggles and difficulties, even deaths.. of course.. But there's great purpose to life.. a first requisite is thinking ability.. but think about it.. isn't that the very pandora's box? (the resulting ability to choose?)
- All things have been done perfectly (by God) in order to bring about the most perfect of outcomes.. [besides, God's rules, not men's, are not as strict as one might think.. unfaithfulness fun? nah.. rather have a marriage that's blessed, and hey, don't forget it was God who made sex..
- To believe life is the anomaly and only came about through a series of mathematically impossible accidents.. takes a whole lotttta faith..

I pose a question to you: What if you are wrong?

Sure, you might say that you lived a full life and did everything "worthwhile" under the sun, regardless of the existence or non-existence of God.

But, I ask you, what if you are wrong and there is a God? You may have made the "most" of your life, but those who trust and follow Christ Jesus (God) have made the most of ETERNITY.

If I find I've wasted my time believng in God and then when I die, there's just nothing...., then I will be blardy well FURIOUS..... Well no I won't because I won't exist,.... problem solved.

BUT, if I spent my life not believing in God and having a great time, and then die and find there IS a God, I would feel a fool AND the original 'believers' would probably mock me for all eternity

Christians if God doesn't exist (o but he dose) then I have not wasted my life. I am happy with who I am and I do my best to help people and to me that is a good life that has not been wasted. I do not have to live my life putting my self 1st in everything to be happy. There is a lot more to life then just me.
