"Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy." No longer applies to us today. It was part of the Old Testament law which Christ fulfilled. All the other commandments have been reiterated and expounded upon in the New Testament, but not this one.

There are none of the other commandments that I would want to do away with, because they are the principles that uphold society. They have to do with honoring God (and all authority, such as governments), and respecting humanity.

The one that is hardest for me to follow is honoring my parents. I think sometimes it becomes a matter of honoring the position they were given, more than respecting them personally. In the same way that we are to respect the authority of the government, whether we agree with it or it is respectable or not.

I wouldn't do away with any, coz all the commandments constitute a part of basic morality standards that all should follow in order for the human society to live in happiness. Look at what is happening in our world due to the lack of high moral standards. Doing away with certain laws will only create more problems. Imagine a world where we are free to kill or commit adultery with no guilt. Gross.

Doing away with commandments sounds so wrong. But if I could o it and it was right, the adultery one. Basically, what's in your heart is what counts. Just checking out a girl...

i struggle with that one, like any guy does. I haven't done anything physical, but in my heart, yes. I would get rid of that one.

Kirsty M-there is no commandment against swearing-it is against using the Lord's name in vain, which has more to do with taking oaths in the Lord's name and not being truthful.
Why not "remember the Sabbath?" Nobody does that anyway?

I think I'd do away with number 5 - Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. As much as I love my parents I do not respect them, especially my father. He's done nothing for me my whole life. Why should I honor him? To me he was merely a sperm donor. Although I am thankful to be here.

Most Christian denominations ignore the Sabbath, and instead worship on The Lord's Day, so they have effectively revoked that Commandment already.

I have done away with the First Commandment in my own life, and I'm pretty happy without it.

None. God"s word is Perfect, just the way He wanted it. If He wanted to take away a commandment, then he would have. We are not to tamper with the word of God. We are not to take away, or add to it.
