The last time I burned a CD on my mom's computer, all the songs came out scratchy sounding like old vinyl records used to when they were scratched. Does it sound like it needs fixed or is there a self cleaning disc I can put in the drive?

yes just buy a new one...tho you may want to make sure the disc your putting in the first place was clean.....or blow it out with compressed air....but it almost always costs more to repair electronics these days then to just buy a new one.,

If it's laser driven, then ur efforts will be futile; there's gonna be no such thing as 'head-cleaning' as in old VCRs.
Otherwise, you can have luck repairing it yourself.
