Read the "comments" section of your SAR (Student Aid Report, which you get after you submit the FAFSA). Usually, a missing EFC is a sign that something is missing or incorrect on your application. Most common: signatures. If the student *and* parent haven't signed the form, it will be processed without an EFC (which, in essence, makes it invalid until signed).
There should be a comment code (or a short sentence/paragraph) on your FAFSA telling you what you need to do. Sometimes it's the signature, sometimes you'll need to correct SSN or birthdate data.. often it's financial data that's missing or incorrect. If you can't decipher the codes yourself, just ask your Financial Aid Office what is missing.

Working in Financial Aid ... we see a lot of ISIRs with absolutely no EFC. Sometimes this occurs if you didn't electronically sign your application (if you did it online) or if your tax information is incorrect. The best way to find out is to either contact FAFSA at 1-800-433-3243 or contact the college in which you are interested in attending.

You must have missed some step. The first page of your ISIR should give you some clue as to the problem. I just had a student who was married last week and tried to submit her FAFSA under her new name. It came back with no EFC because their database doesn't show her SSN with her new name. It will need to be re-submitted later.

You should call and ask them about it, or submit another FAFSA.
