I'm about 112lb overweight (I know, it's horrible) and i'm working on losing it. I don't have too much problem with dieting - I know what's good food and what's bad food, portion sizes etc but I do have trouble exercising. I don't have the confidence to go to the gym or any classes - I just end up freaking out and not gathering the courange to even walk in. I've tried those work-out video's but I get SO bored! I do weights and i've tried aerobic activity etc, but I really do just get bored and impatient - I have ADHD and it's just too time-consuming. I generally just end up dancing about to music because it's the only thing that feels like any fun! I am aware it's not much of a calorie-burner though. What can I do to burn up some energy and help me lose a bit of weight?

I'm heavy too, so I can empathize.

Do whatever works for you. The goal of exercise isn't really to burn calories by itself. It does, but what it really does is create more muscle tissue.

Fat cells don't consume any energy. Muscle cells consume energy even when you're resting. The more muscle cells you have, the higher your basic metabolic rate is. The higher that is, the more you can eat without gaining weight even if you DON'T exercise. Of course, if you don't exercise, the muscles will atrophy and you'll be back to square one.

The point is, any activity that you will stick with is better than nothing.

If you like dancing to music, why not try one of those dance pad video games?

You need to go to a gym or fitness and wellness program with people that are the same as you. You need structure education and guidance. You can lose weight at home but it is much more difficult without the supervision you need. You can do all the workout tapes and follow them religiously but how will you know if your doing it wrong? What happens if do succeed and lose the weight or some of it? What then? I know joining a gym may feel uncomfortable but some of the best success stories are from people taking a chance and feeling uncomfortable. The key isn't magical you know what you have to do. look for a fitness and wellness center you will feel comfortable there. Shop around its for your health not for your looks. I guarantee your self confidence will go through the roof! Stop procrastinating and looking for the easy way out do it! I guarantee you will feel a sense of accomplishment by just walking in to a gym! That right there will increase your confidence! Everyone started somewhere some time. The skinniest kid will walk into a gym and be nervous "I'm not strong or built enough" but it gets done! Do yourself a favor and make a decision to start bettering your life and the way you feel go now! right when you are done reading this Go!!!!!

Dancing is GREAT excercise. It can BURN lots of calories and seems to be your answer.
Why don't so try taking an introductory ballroom dance course.
It will get you moving around the floor.
Especially the swing. Not too many young people either and people of all sizes take lessons.

Another dance not as great but great for some spot areas to train would be like this

...bellydance... then check this out....it HAS to burn some Calories.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg

Well good luck and do a daily walk every day. Least people are out early morning and just before dark, get a walking partner and dance in the mean time!!!

I was 130 pounds overweight when I started going to the gym. I felt the same way you did but the best thing for me was a friend that sort of knew what to do at the gym. Trust me most people won't think horrible things about you if they see you at the gym putting forth effort, and if they do F*ck 'em. Being at the gym will help you stay more motivated than if you are at home alone. You will feel you need to stay more active and work harder becasue there are other people around you doingthe same thing. Maybe try a YMCA there are all types of people there old, young, fat, and thin. Oh and I lost 115 of my 130.

Good for you on your efforts! Dancing that makes your heart rate go into its target zone is good for weightloss. If you are having fun dancing, you are likely to continue it.
Try stairs if your knees are strong.
Don't do the exercise videos everyday. Maybe once or twice or week.
Walking is a good way to take off the weight.
The weight is not going to come off quickly. Remember, you did not gain this weight quickly. Give yourself realistic goals. Aim for 5-10 lbs a month. If you achieve your goal for a month, give yourself a reward like new clothes, a movie, whatever floats your boat, just as long as the reward is not food.

You can start with some stretching exercises, they can help you to reduce all those fat areas that jump with the jeans... Another thing is to go walking, you can go to a park or in your yard (but walk 45 minutes at a regular step), my mom says it is the best exercise because as it has low impact on the articulations and stuff, it will help you to have a better blood circulation and things like that... Other option you have are the abdominals...

Try walking 20-30 minutes 4-5 times a week. Find a friend close by to hold you accountable and walk with you.

YouTube, Pinterest, Google. Look up exercises on all those and it will give you some good ones. Also look in the App Store if you have an iPhone for exercise apps! Run some laps outside. Have fun. Hope this helps.

Do what are known as body weight exercises, at home. I highly recommend getting this book and following the exercises in it.

His book on abdominal exercises is equally as good:

Consider buying a PowerWheel for abdominal work:

This is the exercise program that will likely give you the results you are looking for. They can easily be done at home and will work FAR better than anything you could do at the gym.

Looking for the features about salmon but you don't feel safe cooking fish? Try canned salmon like a simple and affordable alternative.
