The compressor of the air condition saps power from the engine for its working. Hence the response from the car is sluggish.

Power released by the car from its fuel is shared between motion,a/c,heating, lighting etc. A new car releases maximum possible power and distributes it perfectly. As the car wears in service, power released is reduced, motion,a/c, etc take far more power than before for the same effectiveness, all these may therefore not work well. Regular maintenance will ensure performance and put the car to longer life.

Air con will use around 10% of a small engines output, not just in driving the compressor but also the additional load on the alternator in order to run the fans.

As an aid to reducing pollution and global warming, Vehicle air-con should be banned :o))

First off, it's a Ford.

Second, it is a diesel.

Third, unless you have 6 or 7 hundred horsepower, every car will feel the strain that an a/c unit puts on the engine. What you feel is a natural thing when you have an under-powered car/truck with a/c.

Unless you boost the horsepower of your vehicle, you will be stuck with this problem..........

not really except you attempt to study the 6.0 sickos to Chevy and steer away from... both makers had multiple issues of their diesels even as they got here out and Ford has now quite somewhat come out and reported that the 6.0 grow to be rushed using emissions (that is why the 7.3 went) greatest component on the Ford is having to maintain them.. maximum individuals barf on the fee of maintainace and then ask your self why they are determining to purchase $three hundred injectors for. supposedly Ford would not favor yet another fiasco and has placed over 500k miles on the recent 6.4 contained in the worst crap to make positive they don't hiccup now. BTW - Duramax is Gm and ISUZU (GM had not some thing yet issues of diesels and had to go out of domicile to get one with high quality)

When you turn on the AC, the clutch for the compressor kicks in and the power that would normally be helping the truck to move is now being used to turn the AC

That's because your a/c compressor gets it's power from your motor. It doesn't matter if it's a diesel or a petrol engine, if you turn on your a/c unit, you will lose a bit of power.
