the tradition of feeding each other the wedding cake began along time ago. This is the "first meal" that the Bride and Groom share as a couple. The tradition of "smashing" the cake in the face Im not sure where that came from, but I'm sure it had to do with alchol being involved..probably some frat boy prank.. hope this helps.

i dont know where it came from but i think it is incredibly tacky! some people like it though! just make sure u discuss whether or not u want to do it that day so u dont spend your wedding day being mad at your new hubby.
