Most computers are an integral part of the products we use including consumer electronics, automobiles, home appliances, cell phones and all the industrial products that contain computers. But wherever there's a computer, you also have software programs that tell the computer what to do. Since the computers and their software are dedicated as part of the consumer or industrial product, engineers refer to those types of computer and software applications as being "embedded" as opposed to your PC for example that uses general purpose software applications like Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Apple Itunes etc in addition to the special purpose embedded software like device drivers.
