defintely report. although, once the kids come home and tell their parents to shut up, they'll find out.
stop a parent on their way in one day and say something like "i know this might come off as weird, but i live near here and often hear people that work in there telling the kids to shut up. i don't think they're treating those children right."

No.. your right there.. I would not be happy if anyone told my children to shut up.. my 15 year old or my 19 month old! No person has to hear someone talk to them like that, and it seems that these employees are doing it to the little ones because they cannot tell on them. I would call and turn them in, as well as wait for some of the parents and tell them as they leave about what you have heard.

Not only can you report them, you should report them. You can call your local Police department or call the local children's welfare department for your state, sometimes called Department of Social Services, and just tell them what you've heard, the children are being verbally abused by the employees of this daycare. That should be enough for the department to initiate an investigation. Maybe you should also speak to some of the parents, if you see them picking up their children. You can't just sit by and not do anything, who knows what else could be happening to these children. You wouldn't want something drastic to happen and then say "I should have done something when I had the chance".

I agree with you. I teach high school, and I don't allow that word used in my classroom. Day care is different than public schools. I'm not sure what the licensing requirements are or how you'd go about making a formal complaint. You might want to start with the local Chamber of Commerce to find out.
I'm not sure if you'd feel comfortable talking with the workers involved, but maybe if they knew how they sounded they would change what they do. As teachers we are always being observed and evaluated on our performance in front of kids. They should welcome the feedback. You could always do so anonymously through email or letter.
Best wishes with this!

Maybe you should go in and speak to the director. Explain that you often hear employees telling the children to "shut up". Express your feelings to the director about inappropriate behavior. The truth is children are like sponges, they soak it all in. Eventually the children will be acting this way.

Honestly we all tell annoying little kids to leave us alone or to shut up you remember having a little brother ot sister. It's not healthy as far as communications skills but there not doing anything illegal or harming the children. So I just advise you to be on the look out or ask the the people working there why they feel the need to be so rude to the children!

I would repoert it to your local child services think about how when the children go home and tell there parents to shut up and how they are dealing with it yet they are learning it from there other care takers.
When the children enter school even pre-school they are taught to say be quite and not to shut up so this cant be right for these people to be saying it

Yes, I would report it. Children don't have a voice and need to be protected by jerks like those people. If they are telling these children to shut up, can you imagine what else they are doing? They don't care. Report them. I would.

You should most definitely report this. I know that I would not want anyone telling my son to shut up. Those employees are verbally abusing those kids and need to be stopped.
