umm people here are murdering children in the streets also. watch the news much? and they are protecting your freedom. you have the right to express your opinion openly right? maybe you should stop to think if saddam or osama were leading the land of the free you would be hiding in a closet writing in a journal that you prayed they would never find. if your so ungrateful then leave so more mexicans can come up that will appreciate the freedoms and opportunities they are being provided.

Without a military we would long been conquered by a nation where people like u cant complain. U sleep very well not ever having to worry about your safety. Maybe u should move to a country where u dont have the freedoms and protection that our young men have provided for us.

dont direct this singularly....."defending your freedoms".....if we sat back and did nothing on sept. 11 or when the U.S.S. Cole was attacked.....just sat back and said oh well they got us again...eventually what would happen is they would infiltrate our country and do mass killings, or even worse infiltrate our government and slowly win power over us and change our whole way of living....so we are defending your freedom by putting our lives at risk....not intending to kill innocents, seeking terrorism and protection of ourselves at the same time, sometimes unfortunate casualties happen and yes sometimes errors are made as well....we may be the military but we are human. I hate that innocent kids and families are dying but in the big picture, yes we are "defending your freedom"------on a side note i do think we have done our job over there and should come home, the rest of the mess is theirs let them run their own country and we will just work at protecting ours

You don't want the armed forces to "go over there"? Really!! So you want the terrorists to come over here again and again? Why don't you go over there and live and see why we're fighting for their freedom? See why we're fighting terrorism and tyranny. Join up with the insurgents over there and see if you like that life better. Crawl in a cave with Bin Laden. We won't miss you. It's the loyal patriots of America who are holding our country together. It's the God-fearing people who pray for our soldiers and their families and for the continued freedom in our country. Since you obviously aren't one of those good people, you need to either LEAVE or re-think your attitudes.

I served in the Marine Corp. for 8 years and also served in Iraq. Let me emphasize the word served. By having individuals like myself allows people like you to do or say pretty much what ever you want. If it any point during your pathetic life you feel like actually contributing to this great nation instead of making comments that are disrespectful you could possibly understand how exactly we are protecting your freedom.

I got your drift. They use it as a blanket statement to justify murder. The same as Vietnam, really. The whole "It wasn't my fault I'm american" was a little much, though. It was a pretty good government, until Kennedy was assassinated. After that, we've just gone downhill. First, Johnson gets us in Nam, then James Bond and his espionage work for the Conservative Party, then Oatmeal Man, enough said. Following them was Skippy, who got in just because of his opponent, and Rey-Gun, who acted like Franco when he acted like governor of California and then acted like John Wayne when he acted like the President. The last two, I don't really care about, cuz it was bad enough that he fathered Dubya, and I have no comment on the Heartbreak Kid. And George W, well he just proves my point.

If the terrorist & communist take over every little country & add a couple of larger countries, we are not able to defend our freedom from them. Or the countries who depend on us but critize us - like Canada, England, Swiss, Ireland & etc. When they got in too deep in WWII who did they call & it wasn't the ghostbusters, it was The United States of America. We must stay strong & keep terrorist from gaining control. So yes, they are defending my freedom & I am smart enough to know it.

YES you should be grateful. The power of the US to protect YOUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH that you exercised by whining this question is proof that we should help others to have the same freedoms you do. Not a dictator that KILLS his own people.

If you are not proud of America or being an American, the get out! This country needs to support what we do, not stabb each other in the back. I guess 9-11 has left peoples minds.

Americans! You worship your own freedom, you prostarate yourself and as slaves humble yourselves before it like a tyrant. And in your blindness to this obsession you allow corruption to lead you in your hearts and motions and wage war upon the earth in its name. Only in the name of great good is great evil ever wrought. Time is coming now oh great land of the free when your eagle will strike its last and and your great people will awaken from their dillusion and fear for the damage they have done to this beautiful world. Damage and pain in the name of good. Such reasons are used by the Pol Pots, by the Stalins and by The Hitlers of history.
Wake up to your own dillusion.
