Jesus was born a Jew.He practised Judaism and was a respected Rabbi who often read the Torah(Scriptures) in the Synagogue.
These Scriptures promised the coming of the Messiah,or Annointed One. All devout Jews awaited the coming of the Messiah who was to come according to well-defined prophecy.
They believed the Messiah would liberate them from the political oppression of the Romans, under Caesar.
Jesus Christ was the Messiah He fulfilled all that the Scriptures had prophesied concerning the Messiah and proclaimed this in the Synagogue and in a hidden way through His parables.
The problem was that His liberation was not from political but spiritual oppression. So the Jewish leaders rejected Him.But many other Jews embraced His teachings and were first called Christians at Antioch.
The Jews are a chosen people for all time. But not all of them know that the Messiah has come and will come again. The Jews who know are called the spiritual Israelites-the Christians,to which Roman Catholics belong.

Jesus did not want to start a new religion,as an Essene he was a member of a Jewish sect.He wanted Gentiles to be admitted but fell foul of his fellow Rabbis and we all know the consequences! It was his followers, after his death, that started a new religion. It was not until the Nicene convention, that the Roman Emperor Constance called, that the Roman Catholic Church really came into being;more than 300 hundred years after Jesus' death.By that time the whole story of his life had been corrupted and rewritten. In fact there is no ratified mention of Jesus as an actual historical character.

If I was a Christian (a believer in Christ) should I have to be a Jew??
Are you implying that Roman Catholics are not Christians??
I can't make any sense out of this question??
Jesus was a Jew is correct, the Jews don't believe that he was the Son of God, they agree he was a Prophet.
I still can't make any sense out of the question.

Jews who are Catholics are COMPLETED Jews. Besides that, there's also Gentiles in the Catholic Church. Not all who follow Jesus were Jewish. A former Jew who follows Jesus is a Messianic Jew, meaning they understand that Jesus was the Messiah prophesied about in the Old Testament.

Early Christians did not see themselves as a "new religion". Rather, they were the natural continuation of the Jewish faith -- with the promised Messiah having been revealed.
The Christian faith is the continuation of Judaism (with the prophecies having been fulfilled). Along with the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes -- the early church was initially viewed as a new sect of the Jewish faith:
Acts 24:5
"We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect"
Acts 24:14
"However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect."
With large number of Gentile converts coming into the church, and increasing hostility from Jews who refused to accept Jesus as the Messiah, the lines/distinctions became more pronounced over time. Despite what some may say, Christianity does not contradict Judaism -- rather, it completes it.

Well St Paul wanted to create a religion that could travel well a bit like the Romans so he built some bridges with them being a rather super politician and hey presto a new religion!
All they had to do do was eradicate all other forms of christianity (like the Cathars etc) over the centuries and then you get Roman Catholicism. Not much space for Jewishenss int here is there?

Because Jesus started a new religion. The religion was to follow him - to follow Christ, hence the name Christians.
Catholics believe Jesus to be the Messiah, the one that fulfilled the prophecy about a Messiah coming to the Jews and to the world. But not everyone who heard this wanted to believe it, and so not everyone became Christian.
If you are a Roman Catholic you must know this already.

The majority of the New Testament was "written" by Paul.
Paul's mission was to bring the gospel (judaism) to Gentiles (pagans) after Hebrews laughed at Jesus for claiming to be the "messiah."
Amazingly enough, in the process, Paul eliminated all Jewish laws which made it more acceptable to pagans.
According to some Christians cults, gentiles become jews when they are baptized.
But, it's all nonsense, so it doesn't really matter.
additional comment:
The term "Jew" referred to residents of Judea and it is not a "race," it WAS a "nationality." It is now used by people who have no relation whatsoever to the ancient Judean people other than their religion (heavily modified from its original form).
There is no such thing as an atheist Jew, Christian Jew, Muslim Jew, or any other kind of Jew except one who practices Judaism.

Jews at the time were awaiting their promised Messiah (Christ).. When the Christ came (Jesus) the Jews that were faithful and waiting for Him became Christians (Christ Followers) Jews today, do not believe Jesus was the Messiah (excluding Messianic Jews) this is why Catholics ( As well as Protestants) are not Jewish.
