i was raised in a religon where the women would not cut ( even trim) there hair, your daughter would look about like most of the other 4 year olds in that church I no longer go there however I do keep my hair long. i cut mine majorly one time, when it was down to my knees and i was going to have my son it was so short i couldn't even put it in a pony tail holder!! i hated it ...that's been 3 years ago it's now about the length of your daughters, i'm never going to cut it again.
i'd say let your daughters hair grow for now,it will slow down...i've seen alot of little girls with totally uncut hair and the longest would be a 6 year old that had hair almost to her knees, but she had a growth sprut and it made it look shorter later on... when she gets in school , other kids will cut it( the whole kindergarden sissor thing) then you'll have to manage it then to get it cut,perhaps...or she will see other girls with short hair and ask for hers to be shortened... braid it tightly it will make it look shorter and it won't reach her bum( not so tight that it causes a headache though)...and invest in lots of hair accesories

Can your 4 yrs old take care of it? If not then tell your wife she needs to or cut it to make it more manageable for you and your daughter. Stringy hair on a little girl makes her look like she is not well groomed!

My hair is that long to sooner or later they'll get tired of all the work they have to do to her hair and she'll cut it but right now she's little let her have her long hair. Also when you cut her hair it will make her her grow back healthier and probaly even longer just trim her hair every 6 weks or so.

find out all the disadvantages and advantages of having long hair. you can have a mini debate between your daughter and your wife. Make a deal with your wife(and your daughter). If you win, your daughter will cut her hair and if your wife wins, well.... then it's too bad.
you might wanna avoid a quarrel. and you can write down all the disadvantages and advantages and show it to your wife. Hopefully, she'll listen. =) best if luck!

I would suggest something like going to the hairstylist all together for a "family haircut time". That way the stylist will see your daughter's long hair, and suggest something to do with it. Even if your wife likes it the way it is, she'll appreciate what the stylist has to say.

Tell her that as she gets older it will be harder for her to take care of it. It will get damaged and your wife will have to wash it and comb it. So when your daughter is older you wife has to do more work while doing her hair. I had long hair when I was younger and my dad didn't want me to cut it. My mom finally decided to cut it because it was getting to hard to take care of my hair. It would stay wet longer and it got tangled a lot.

if the child likes it and it is not a mess leave it alone. Soon enough she will be able to decide for herself.
I cut my daughters beautiful long curly hair when she was five because of everyone else nagging and moaning. She has never forgiven me for that one and has never been able to get it that long again.

why don't you ask your daughter, not your wife, mum cut my hair when i was 4, i've never forgiven her, you might think she is too young , but it will live with her forever, and may never forgive you for doing it if she loves it, try getting it trimmed, or pin it up, long hair on a little girl is beautiful, be proud of it.

I can remember a story my Grandma told me from her childhood. When she was a little girl, she had very very long, very blond hair... One day she was out riding her bike and got her hair stuck in the spokes. A very painful mess. She still tells the story today and she is 86 years old!!

long hair is pretty but very inconvenient, not to mention how hot it is on a hot summer's day. i wouldn't try to convince her to cut it real short, just a few inches off, just to make it more convenient, i mean, how can a child play carelessly with hair that long?
or just tell her that you don't like it, she's your kid too so you've got a say in this as well!
